Which Anthem should I buy?

Hi everyone

so I am getting ever-closer to finally buying a dual-suspension, but I would like to hear your opinion on the different Anthem models.

My first choice is the 2015 Anthem 29. I love the colours, and the fact that it is a 29er. But they are becoming scarce, and may no longer be available by the time I have my savings together, which is why I need to consider other options.  http://www.giantdurbanville.co.za/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.29er/19596/78192/

The 2016 Anthem 29 is a problem for me because of the terrible yellow-green stickers. It's an upgrade to the 2015, but gosh, the colours!  http://www.giantdurbanville.co.za/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.29er/24203/88506/

Then I happened upon this sexy beast: the Anthem 27.5 (2016). It's red, which is my favourite colour. But I am not too sure about the 27.5 wheels. http://www.giantdurbanville.co.za/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.27.5.1/24200/88512/

I do mainly cross-country riding, and would like to use the bike for things like Origin of Trails and Wines2Whales.

I am 1.76m tall.

Opinions please!

Ja fair enough Shebeen, but you didn't check the specs, the 27,5 has a better drivetrain than either of the 29ers, and pretty similar suspension, so spec doesn't come into it.

I actually also hate the look of the new Anthem, and would have to get it repainted before I will ever ride it. It's kinda like those pink e36 series BMW's, doesn't matter what's under the hood, it's still fugly.

The question here is about wheel sizing. Will someone who does XC type riding on a 29er hardtail enjoy a 27,5 fullsus more or less than a 29er fullsus?

Will the 27,5's better chuck ability make up for the small loss in flywheel effect compared to a 29er. Will the one give more confidence than the other ?

As a matter of interest, she has tested a 2015 Anthem 29er and loved it, but it's pretty difficult to line up a test on both sizes to really compare, and spending almost R 40k on the wrong bike is not an option.

Hey Marick, Cobus hier. Gaan chat met will by williams bike shop.

Get the 27.5 Anthem.

overall its a better bike than the 29er version and contrary to popular incorrect belief a bikes speed has zippall to do with its wheel size.

Some have just been obsessed with spending too much time on Ashley Madison and have a "friend" who made them believe bigger is better. :whistling:

eish - my 2c. buy it for the parts and price. not the colours!

 yup.

I have a 650b and its AWESOME. Quicker than my 26" on the ups and took some getting used to on the downs.

Edit: I don't think Giant will dump 29" altogether as I am sure there pro riders (if they have any left) prefer  riding this size, or maybe not.

Had this exact dilemma earlier in the year when I wrote off my XTC.

Rode both... and in my opinion there is not a big gap between the 650b and the 29er. Went with the 29er because I already had a garage full of tyres and spares etc....

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE BIKE!!!!

Good specials right now on 2015 Anthems. Consider a Anthem SX. This has a slightly relaxed head angle and longer travel front (120mm) that has been carried through to the 2016 frames as far as I know. Its raceable but has an edge in technical descents that will make it more fun for general riding as well.

I heard they are expanding their 29" range again NEEEEXT year...so hold on!
