Cut out refined sugar, bread, other refined carbs about 2.5 years ago. Went down from 95kg to 76kg in 6 months, been at 78kg for the past 2 years now.

Amazing thing is once you get used to not having sweet stuff it is amazing how when you do eat it, it tastes awful.

We have 70%+ chocolate from time to time and if I am presented with a plate of food with a potato I will eat it. Still eats at least 3 fruits a day, I think it is good for you.

Still drink wine and whisky and the occasional beer. Happy with my eating life, don't really have any cravings.

Same here - the chocolate. But like I said earlier if I have a lot of sugar my head really starts to spin. As for tastes and this and that, stuff still tastes like stuff to me...

This looks interesting!

Edit: OMG.... R13k!

More like R 18k for the new ones with touch screen and on chip cook books. Ask me. My wife decided to start selling them after I bought the first one and I had to get the new model....

But you will toss every kitchen appliance you have.

Its a bit of a mind numbing exercise to get your head around the price, but you need to understand what it does and how much time it saves you.

See Wayne's post about it as well as some guys on the LCHF string who are much ore serous about diets than i am.

Eeeeek! R18k.... But that said and after looking at the website I can see what you mean about tossing all other appliances. And I am all for a minimalist kitchen/house.

I like the app/recipe community and planning/shopping calendar. So ja, R18k investment is more like it..

Would it work well just cooking for a couple instead of family??

Don't you find that after being sugar free for sometime that when you do have something very sugary (cake at a bday lets say) that it actually doesn't taste Lekker? My biggest problem is when I get stressed I force the sugar in and to get used to it again.

Anther aspect that we struggle with is what to drink, especially for the kids. Is it not possible to make you own fruit juice. I understand that by using a juicer you throwing all the fibre out etc. would using something like a Nutribullet not work better??

As said just now: what is wrong with water?

With the kids we decided to develop their palate around unprocessed and unsweet foods. They are so far that they, by themselves, ask for water a birthday parties where the juice bottles are standing around :)... and they walk in the garden to pick rocket or parsley leaves to nibble on.

Please don't tell the Mrs there's a new model out! Still trying to get my head around the last purchase that was sneaked in before I could have my say!

It is a cool unit, for a kitchen appliance!
