This is really difficult, to cut out sugar. Man alive, I would battle as I have a bit of a sweet tooth.

The most have been with just cutting out chocolate was like 3 days. I dont really drink fizzy drinks like coke and mainly drink oros which I guess has some sugar but better than coke.

I have one cup coffee a day and had 4 sugars but now I am donw to one for a long time but cannot bring myself to have no sugar.

I admire Yall for cutting out suger and for me this would be heart breaking...giving up that new Cadbury silk chocolate is just a no no.

I try to manage my intake but its though.

The sugar is beer is it metabolised by the yeast which then coverts to alcohol so would drinking beer be acceptable when trying to cut out sugar?

Nice one!!

People who say, I will start NOW are way for successful than those who say "tomorrow" or "Monday".....

Too soon...too soon...I'm going to start on Tuesday...

Been 'sugar free' for a while although I do have those MASSIVE fridge/cupboard raiding sessions...just to make sure the stuff doesn't go off...no other reason...

It has been mentioned before, but maybe some have not seen it... And it should get more attention in this thread, and the more people that see it the better...

That Sugar Film

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3892434/

Yes Yes yes.

I went so far as to buy this film on Apple so i could show my wife. (I was a good citizen). Its pretty long to watch but there are some pieces that made me really think a bit.

1.) The effect of sugar on the brain.

2.) The fact that a calorie is not a calorie (as 90% of dieticians have told me). Sugar calories kick off some amazing processes. Like Cocaine almost.....

3.) Towards the end where they start to draw out a hypothesis that Sugar drives our current cultural head rush and our capitalistic behaviour and drive for reward. Very interesting. Made me think a little bit deeper about the whole issue.

4.) The food companies make the drug companies and the cigarette companies look saintly. They are the major villains.

I was in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago and after seeing the sugar documentary on my IPad on the way over I decided (as I was Banting) that I needed some healthy snacks.

Like nuts and biltong and things. So i went across the road to a large shop and started my quest, also looking at the labels for the amount of Sugar.

That was sobering.

I could not find anything fresh or not loaded in Sugar.

Nothing.

Eventually i found some beef jerky (cured in a flavoured sauce) and some nuts, way down the bottom of an aisle.

But nothing like we can get here.

FWIW:  I have been pretty much sugar free and doing LCHF/Noakes/Banting for about 5 weeks.

Yesterday I was 7,2 kgs down.

And feel much better for it.

Watch this film though - later on in it there are some startling bits.

Whoever designed the nutritional info needs to learn that a Calorie cannot be measured in grams... kCal...

220kCal for a bar, though - not bad considering the caloric content of those ingredients.

I have informed them when I got the bars 3 weeks ago. Those were the 1st bars wrapped (4 weeks ago) and since then a few things on the wrappers. Knew someone would say something about it

there is no diet in the world that should exclude beer.

Today I am considering as my "cheat day" given that it's Burger Day. No way am I having a burger without a bun.

As for the bread thing - I'm on a slice of low gi seed bread (the small loaf from WW) and an egg for my breakfast. Insofar as intake from bread goes, I think that may be acceptable, though if I find that it's not, I'll drop it and just have 2 eggs instead.

Again, coffee with a splash of milk but no sugar.

I have 2 eggs (boiled) for breakfast every day .....

Mayhem , you could try baking the flaxseed bread in the Noakes book. You just need a coffee grinder for the seeds. Experiment and add spices and other seeds as you go along. I put a spoon of cinnamon in for some flavour. All done in less than an hour.

WARNING: Don't eat half the loaf if you're riding the next morning!

I am more low carb than banting.  But find it very hard to cut out sweet stuff if it's near me. I Raid cupboards before bedtime.
