What cycling camera?

I would like to fit front and rear facing cameras on my bike. Not a Virb or goPro quality one, but something small to record what happens behind and in front of me when I cycle in traffic.

Must have sound and the ability to record about 3 hours of video.

Options?

Wish I had one this morning covering the rear.  Guy fell his ass off when he tried to overtake me in traffic.  Not sure what took place, but the shade looked EPIC!  I use my GoPro for the front... Wonder if I had the camera running at that moment...

Just check the following in a camera.  Must be waterproof.  I had a drift camera that had a "waterproof" bag, that died in Moz.  The bag let half the ocean into the bag, and water killed the camera.

Make sure that it can take the bumps.  You do not feel it, but your bike is a shaker.  Will kill anything that can't take the shakes, thus I am not a fan of the cellphone brackets making your phone a camera.

Good luck and sorry that I am not a huge help in this, but I guess someone with more knowlegde will pass along soon...

Has anybody had any experience with the DRIFT Stealth 2 ?

I looks as if it ticks all of the boxes.

Talking about boxes, the reason I am looking at a POV camera is because of a big box that we encountered on our ride this morning.

After nearly clipping my cycling partner whilst there being ample space to overtake safely, my partner very politely and non confrontationally pulled up next to the car at the traffic light and pointed out the vulnerability of a cyclist and asked the guy to use more of the available road when passing. He was met with the standard venom.

Then, as the light turned green and I took off on the far left of the road, he accelerated past  and swung towards me, nearly clipping me with his mirror.

In future, I want to be like the Poms who post videos of people like him.

Didn't you notice that he was 2 inches behind you too when he pulled away?

Next time I see him I will have stronger words for him...  at a minimum..

Kinda... Then I am kinda fat...

For the price of the new GoPro I can get a very good set of 2nd hand wheels...

I've used drift stealth for about half a year and I can't complain. For a commuting camera - to record what happens - it's great. For me the biggest advantage of this camera is it's size, weight and shape. It doesn't distract me when I have it on the helmet and even I may forget I actually have it. :) Also it doesn't look like an awful box. I'm satisfied with this camera.

Have you looked at SJCAM or SJ4000 on aliexpress.com? I recently bought two for R450 each, including import duty. They are 1080p, spare batteries are about R20 each, it shoots an hour on one battery. The storage is micro SD Card, it takes about 1 GIG for ten minutes.

It looks similar to a gopro, it comes with the waterproof case and all the mountings.

The camera has a fish eye lens and resolution is really good.

for what you pay those Sj cams are absolute beasts

I am not too happy with mine (SJ4000 wifi), the video quality I got when riding offroad is not good at all. Seems the camera cant record fast enough. The 60 FPS 1080 setting is actually 30FPS with every frame recorded twice (info from online review).

I might have bought a bum camera (and yes, mine is the original, not the fake), but wont recommend it from my "dissapointed" experiece.
