Nooo... The hub needs to be able to look at his laps for the activity in question, to see what wattage he was pushing out during the intervals. From there we can determine without a shadow of a doubt whether or not he could have broken a top tube, and if Scott must cough...

Or, at the very least, they could issue wattage limit guidelines for their frames...

I will also vouch for Kelson.  He's not a dodgy guy, and he's definitely not a troll.

I've seen the frame, but unfortunately didn't get any pictures for all of the Hub experts...  It's a lateral crack on the top tube about 20cm from the seat tube.  He transports the bike in the back of the car, not on a rack.  Kelson is also a very strong rider, consistently part of or right near the front of the pack, so certainly puts a lot of force through the bike.

The frame also cracked a few weeks ago, and was taken in straight away, so there has been time for back and fourth between them before coming on here to post.

As he is not a fly by night troll, can we get back to the issue at hand?

I agree. Way too much speculation going on

cool. Thanks, Dirty.

The speculation, as you know, is the norm. An unknown person comes on, blasts Scott as his first post, with boggerall background into the type of crack, his dealings with Scott, etc etc. It's only natural that we'd be skeptical, as we've ALL seen it before.

Now, he's had someone vouch for him. Still got no pics of the frame and crack, but he now has contact details for the guys at Scott. It could also be that his LBS is taking the p.

Isnt it going to be difficult to prove what happened wasn't caused from a bike carrier/workstand clamp if the crack is not located pretty close to the headtube or seat tube?

20 cm is almost a hands length from the seat tube where I would have imagine most of the stress from normal riding would be?

Scott surmising it must have been a bike rack/stand that caused the crack is one thing but what evidence is there that is the case?

If it's potentially that there is some internal carbon layup or void problem that led to weakness and subsequent cracks then how would they reasonably disprove that?

its up to the warranty provider to prove that the conditions of the warranty have not been fulfilled.

If the frame was clamped too tight the crack would run longitudinal to the tube length and have fairly consistent depth

If its a void or lay up issue I'd expect the crack to propagate along the bias and gain depth as it runs.
