That was k@k. Took a while to get going and got dropped from the FL group. Was soo tempted to turn after about 20km.

Oh well, nice training at altitude for the Shova. Happy to be back in Dbn after 10days.

Nice "meeting" you Pikey. Sorry if I came across as rude. Being sick and suffering in that wind just put me off...

Was blown away by the BL group in the first 15km, but got picked up by a 2nd BL group. Two Cyclelab gents sat on the front with some help now and then.  Thanks to you both!

Yes it was tough as sh*t and I was slower than last year, but this was a great HTFU ride.

Organisation was great, specially enjoyed the drinks at end.

Lessons learnt (as said above), I'll back to give it some carrots!

Thanks to all.

Congrats to all who faced that wind today and finished the race in challenging conditions. I was lucky enough to catch onto a group training for DC called Proud Beginners who let me join their train and nursed me til the last water point when I left them behind to get water. Didnt re-seed my late entry so rode in FL and really enjoyed the people. No one littered, no riding over the white line. Really courteous friendly peeps all over, so thanks to all I encountered for making a tough day a little easier. Well organised and marshalled thank you to all concerned.

Damn cold at the start, wind made it a tad challenging but I enjoyed it!

yea it was cold. I had 3 layers on which I paid for after an hr or so. Good to see today .

Eish, that wind!!!. Had a fairly good ride to my standards. Race was well organised but for one incident where 3 of us were sent in the wrong direction. Had to turn left, but there was a horse shoe left and a 90 deg left at this intersection. The 'marshal' had his flag indicating towards the horse shoe left and off we went. 1km down this road it was rather quite. We decided to go back to the intersection to find out we were flagged in the wrong direction. The 'marshal' was a youngster. There were several other adult marshals standing around. Was not happy chappy. Very irresponsible of the adults to have a kid manning such a difficult intersection. Other than that, had a 'pleasant' ride

It never gets easier, does it? I parked in Henley to avoid the traffic. It was well chilly, so wore a long-sleeved fleeced jersey. Started in BL, got blasted out in the first 15km. Had no power. Figured it was the wind, and the seven month lay-off. I was too hot to ride, so cycled to my car after 50km and put on a short sleeved jersey. Much better, but was still getting dropped. Suffered like never before in the wind. Broke the line at 4:34. A seriously humbling ride.

Filled up at Cafe de Cirque. Great drinks. Excellent organization.

Rode back to Henley. When I climbed off my bike, I saw that my rear wheel was pushed hard against the brakes! Rookie error.

After the early break that got away in AL the balance group settled into a sedentary pace, civilized enough to take a couple pics.attachicon.gifimage.jpeg

Ha, ha.  Great pic!!  Great skill.  I was wondering about the quality of the pic.  Next time I will move a little to the right :-)

Well done everyone, That was seriously tough. The tandem racing was hot and the wind just made it brutal. Seedings should be interesting for this one.

After I finished and was walking to my car one of the organisers was saying some cars had been broken  into and they where rushing off to the area furthest from the start location. When I was leaving I did see a cop car there.
