In my case it may come a bit from when I started out riding and the then 'elders' of the bunch (back in the days when it could be 100+ strong on a Sat/Sun on the Lido route) would shout at us when we went to the front 'get down on those drops BOY!'

Clearly I have been proven wrong and most do use them and I am damn happy to read that!

No drops for me. Changed the handle bars on my road bike to flat. Just more comfortable for me and I think safer when used as a commuter / in traffic to have the brake leavers within reach.

well dos it make me look stupid if Im doing a 90km ride with no place to get water,

90km training ride half a bottle needed. 90km race 1 bottle needed. Surely you have a bottle cage? Camel packs things are in the rules as a NO NO!!!!

into the wind I find it more aero on the hoods actually, with a 90degree(or more) bend in elbows.

you don't have a lot of control, but its only on an individual pursuit on a road bike that I would do that.

I like riding in the drops, but I'm too inflexible to maintain it for extended periods of time.

Any solution for someone like me who drinks to thirst and goes through about 1L/hour in hot weather?

If I don't do this, my piss comes out dark yellow, my mouth dries up, I get one hell of a headache afterwards, and sometimes feel like death. Pretty sure these are signs of dehydration.

try being well hydrated long before you get on the bike and hydrating better when you aren't riding

but that's pretty scary results for an hour on a bike   maybe you should ask a professional about kidneys etc I would :whistling:

Being well hydrated usually means pulling over 30 mins in to take a leak :).

The usual professional response after spending thousands of randellas: everything looks fine, you're not about to die. I've had stuff like this checked out in the past, it's not limited to cycling.

2 x bottle cages on bike and double bottle cage on seat post. Could also put a throw away bottle (energade bottle with water)  in your jersey....

That's a lot of bottles

Or use a Camelback?? Silly rules are made to be broken.

so lets up the anti a bit ...I do the invisible aero bars pursuit position when its flat and far and theres little traffic..

have nice flats on my wing bar for this

anyone else ?

I can get into the position but it hurts like hell where the front of the seat digs into the soft bits.
