The top of range First Ascent and Cape Storm bibs generally get good reviews. (not that I have any experience with either)

Assos will obviously feature but comes at a premium.

Craft seems to offer good value and seems to be on special often.

Other European brands (Santini, Nalini etc) are all equally good and equally pricey.

Unfortunately bib comfort is never gauranteed no matter what the brand.

If you have the budget, buy Assos. You won't be sorry.

Also bear in mind that bike fit and saddle choice have a major effect on riding comfort, no matter what chamois covers your butt.

Assos are the best,  I almost cried as my credit card passed through the machine when I bought my fist pair.

I now have 5 pairs!!   They are super comfortable for rides into the 3+ hour mark, in addition they are quality and will outlast first assent 3+ times over.

gona be in the saddle for more than 3 hrs...more like 4 -5 hrs...hopefully in time as my cycling improves it will reduce to 3 hrs...maybe even less...i would rather spend a little more and get a quality product to make it more comfortable.

I'm gonna put in a heavily biased punt for our Anatomic Ergonomic bibs... lekker for road and Mtb and just over R1000. It may not be some fancy European brand and we may not pay 40% import duties to get them here, but apart from being sewn together here, all the materials and padding are in fact imported - so you are basically getting international Technology, but made right here in your back yard

Rode joBerg2c with them, on my hardtail, and had a good laugh at all the fancy pants (excuse the pun) in the bum clinic every am  :whistling:

Anyways, like I said - heavily biased, as you were...

My first bib was a Cape Storm. After about a year it started to chafe me.

Bought an Assos then, Solomons have some great specials from time to time and my first one still is 100% 6 years later. So definitely worth the price. Also much more comfortable.

I've lost some weight lately and it now fits a bit loosely, but still no chaffing.
