Did anyone else find the expo not as big and good as last year?

I expected to spend a good 2 hours in there. Took merely 1.5 and that included waiting half an hour for my ICE bracelet from Pedalpower.

Goodie bag was basically the same as last year.

I'm with you. Really weird space with very little atmos' and was exactly like walking around a car park. I didn't buy a thing! Was hoping to see the Scott stand and check the new foil. Did't find it.

Got the knock with the security guards that won't let you go from one aisle of the expo to the others, I was standing at the exit on to the pitch and wanted to just go the Rudy stand you can see paralell and I was informed I must walk all the way back around or out the expo and then back in.

Seemed to be loads of empty booths and lots of exhibitors not actually selling their product. Was fun to see the new swift aero as well as the storck stand. Parked on somerset road opposite cwc and walked, nice and easy.

Got to say a massive 'thanks' to ASG / Rudy for they awesome customer service at their stand once again. Well done and thanks!

What gear ratios do you think majority of the elite / top groups use for a race like the CTCT? Think any use compact cranks?

For the Pro's what ever is on there bike, they not really that fussy. 99% of them run 53/39 and a few 52/36 as they tend to go up Chappies at 40kph. If you rinning compact you will get dropped.

Edit: I reckon half the elite bunch wont go out of the 53T.

I'll be running 52/36 11-23.

Maybe it'll just be quicker if I borrow a wheel chair from the VnA....

I wanted to use the word 'rolstoel' a while ago

Glad you did first

Make sure it has a lil cage for a bottle of electrolytes too

You guys must enjoy the race on Sunday. Not doing it this year because I took the wife to Mauritius for our 30th wedding anniversary and now I am broke.  It feels strange to not get ready to be off to Cape Town after 12 years of doing the race. May the wind be behind you all the time.

Think of it as active recovery

I think it's great.  The old venue was dodgy, at least at the stadium it's safer to walk around outside.

Plus it's on my doorstep!

It took all of 8 minutes to walk from home to the expo and a further 6 to collect my number at 12h30.

Lol, watching all this talk about gearing, I have a Giant OCR5 with Stock Groupset 16 Speed.

So then I must be a pro seeing I am not fussy

Haven't found a hill yet I can't climb (managed to climb hof street up to kloof on it with a lot of huffing and heaving though) and the groups I qualify in I seem to have enough top end to keep up with them.

I really like the expo and am dreaming of that pretty new Swift bike...

To the arse in that anthracite BMW X5 who reversed into the back of my car in the parking by the traffic circle, and then decided to quickly drive off despite the car guard and myself running after you: What the actual F. Man up.

What a tool. Hope you managed to get a number plate? Karma will get him. A puncture as the announcer says hoooplaaa and then another going down hospital bend. Sorry for your bad luck.
