Can someone help. I'm doing my first ctct and no where is the magazine or the website does it explain how to actually get to the start. Plenty of images of the start pens but no direction to actually get there in the first place. No info on parking. Road closures only by text which doesn't help if you don't know CPT. Route map without actual roads. Very disappointing. So I've pretty much give up on even driving to the start and have begged a mate to drop me at stupid-O'clock but still don't know what route to take from southern suburbs.

Metrorail is your winning option. Cycle to the nearest train station. R47 gets you a return ticket for you and your bike for the day tomorrow. First train's coming through at just after 5am getting into town a few minutes before 6. Rest of the schedule is online. The Civic Center is where all the start setup is which is right next to Cape Town Station. You get off the train literally at the start! After the race a short ride into town gets you back tot he station and you compare war stories with other cyclists heading home!

You are a brave man to trust Metrorail's time table.

You must be a brave man to Trust Metrorail at all... I used them once in 2012, NO security at all on the train going in, and loads of dodgy drunk people on the train going home.. So never again...

Either take the main rd straight through to Town and cycle to the start from the Castle, Or the M3 all the way will get you to the convention centre, a 2min cycle to the start...

I think the m3 is prob the best bet.

I have used this option for about 4 years now and it has worked brilliantly. Never had a delay. BUT this year I bought my ticket and now see the first train starts at fish hoek at 0500. I start at 0621 so it's cutting it a bit fine for me. Just found last year's schedule and it left simonstown at 0424. Now on 99 I need to make a plan[emoji20]

Why did they drop the earlier train? It was always full of cyclists in previous years. Have already bought 2 tickets so wasted R94.
