Not sure if this has been posted, saw it on FB this morning

This morning at 8.40am a cyclist purposely smashed our rear car window with our 4 month old in the back
This was on croydon road, coming from croydon, just bef...ore the left turn to Beddington lane. The cyclist had hit our car with his hand earlier on the passenger side, the only reason I could think he did this, is he possibly felt he didn't have enough room to get through.

There were L plates on the car and my partner was driving. As we passed him again I said out the window we have L plates have consideration. He caught up again as we hit traffic, he switched to the other side and smashed our car window with his bike lock. Due to the the shock I told my partner to carry on driving to a safe place to pull over and called the police.

There was glass over our child. We have a baby on board sign and there was a child sunscreen. There was a black audi we think behind us that witnessed this. The cyclist may take this route everyday so please be aware if you are on this road. The man was white, long blonde hair, wearing a yellow jacket and cycle glasses. Possibly 30-40 years old but couldnt be sure of age. Please share to raise awareness, i wouldnt want him smashing anyone elses windows. and please do message if you witnessed.

Sounds like one part of a story here. And it also sounds like the driver is using L-plates (learner plates? with a baby on board??) and the baby on board sign as an excuse not to keep their minimum 1 meter passing distance from the cyclist and he was probably fed up this morning for whatever reason.

I'm not saying what he did was right, in fact it was utterly irresponsible, but people don't just decide to smash windows, especially not over a childs face- there's more to this story.

mind sharing the link to the article here?

If my window get smashed intentionally, I might just get a huge fright and swerve or brake or accelerate unpredictably...... :cursing:

Anyway this incident smells of a just driving along incident which tells me she's not so innocent. If the cyclist had already slapped the car and as she suggests, to indicate they needed more space, then it sounds like the driver deliberately did something to endanger the cyclist ( not an uncommon reaction in the UK...)
