Note the forest and lack of orange-yellow yellow-orange bike. And also in Tinkoff kit and not Slovak kit[emoji6] But he is in Rio and he is checking out the course[emoji16]

Believe this was for the women only and was announced 1 July at the games, so in all likelihood there wasn't any ladies present to race. Doubt it would be Ashleigh or An-Li wanting to race the XCO or even have MTBs as they were there for the road race. It's not unusual for berths to open up due to nations pulling out or whichever reason. That's how Dan Craven ended up riding the time trial event. Great Britain didn't even qualify to send a single rider for the MTB event, but managed to get a rider in under similar circumstances at the last minute.
