So they really don't put any slime in their tyres? That doesn't make sense to me. Sure it ads a little extra weight, but surely it's worth it? It'll be much quicker to bomb a half flat tyre quickly than having to ride on your rim or run a full lap to the tech zone

I heard they put about 40ml in where us normal folks 120ml.

Well the Vuelta is on, and the commentating is awesome, as is the scenery, and the racing is close, no clue who might win today, or overall.

Road cycling FTW.

The dude that talks to himself all the time? Why not give him a buddy to talk to?

Don't be too hard on Gerald. SS could have sent someone worse. YEH?

G was also commentating on the BBC coverage.

The problem is most here are know it all's so no one will be good enough....

Just you try commentate for 90 minutes solid and let's see how clever you sound ????

Were any of you watching the single event webstream produced by the OBS, or were you watching the coverage on your official broadcaster where it was intermixed with the other events? CBC made the OBS stream available on their website so we didn't have to deal with all the cut aways to other events.

The OBS commentators were a South African man and an Australian women, I never heard their names, but much like Rob/Bart, they didn't seem to always be seeing the same video as the viewers. They missed the fact that Catharine was tangled in the first incident out of the start loop.

You are quite correct. It's not easy I'm sure. But then again nor is my job but I have years of training and experience and practice. Still. No need to be harsh

Thing is Gerald is actually a very nice guy. He was doing all the mic work a few years back at the Berg and Bush and he was on top of it. Remembered our names and how we had done the day before. I just feel he was a little out of his depth on Sunday

Really I think they were okay in the big scheme of things, compared to London with Chris Boardman, he know zip about mtb, and Rob Walnut who blags his way through every UCI XCO broadcast.

One pleasant surprise if you watched the Rio BMX was Siree Chris Hoy, who spent his first few years bike racing in BMX.  He had a lot of interesting things to say during the competition, including that one of the most important things he learnt from those days then was learning how to loose.

Owen H springs to mind [emoji85]

There is one worse that Owen H... Seeing that SS is in the habit of employing "journos" as commentators.

Andy Caspetagno (sorry, don't know proper spelling).

Now that guy knows nothing about nothing. Irritates the crap out of me.

According to BB:

  • every race is muddy, dusty and bumpy.
  • everyone is on 29inch wheels
  • they have carbohydrates in their bottles

fascinating

"Thats how it is"

ragging on the commentator has overshadowed what a boring race its was, much like the schumi era in F1.....

the race for 3rd was the best thing for the 90min.

To a degree I agree, but there was plenty going on further down the field which we didn't get to see due to the focus of the cameras on the leading riders, would of made the race way more interesting to watch imho.
