Bleak that they are missing so many rides in WC. No Stellenbosch cycle tour, very little MTB events and no LBL events.

Lame, come now discovery.

You have to spend R3000 per quarter before you qualify to get up to 50% of your entry fees paid back.

So that's more than 10 standard cycle races in 3 months before you qualify, assuming R250-R300 per event.

There aren't even 10 qualifying cycle races in Gauteng on the list between January and March, so you'll have to enter races in other provinces or take up running, or do an expensive event just to qualify for the first quarter.

I suspect know there will be a lot of normal cyclists thinking they're going to get money back, and will be terribly disappointed.

Where did u read that? I understood it that u can only claim 50% back of R3000 per quarter, R3000 being the maximum for entry expenditures per quarter. ..

am I mistaken?

You could enter an event in another province and then sell entry to someone else. Still make some moola

That is how I read it... 50% back on races entries up to expenditure of R3000 per quarter

So a maximum of R1500 back per quarter... If you spend R4000 in one quarter, you will only get R1500 back

Wrong. It's how the others have it. If you just ride one race, and you're enlisted for this benefit, you get 50% of it back subject to a max of R1,500 back per quarter.

On the brochure.

"Qualifying spend for cash back of R3000 per quarter"

I think you would need to complete the event to qualify. That would be too easy.

Maybe I'm wrong, in which case I'll apologise upfront, like right now Edited by geraldm24

So its does not come out of my savings? So then where is the catch? Do they pay CSA for my licence fees in their R600 startup fee?

Nope. Not from MSA. From Vitality themselves. Nothing to do with savings and /or med aid.

Catch is that if you don't use it you don't get cash back.

And yes. CSA license for (I'd imagine) a recreational license. And kit.

Don't underestimate the amount Discovery will save as a result of reduced lapse rates thanks to this benefit. Even for a 1% reduction in lapse ratios, and a few 1,000 more vitality points. That small uptick in retention has a HUUUUGE effect on their bottom line

You are wrong. Max spend that will qualify for a discount is R3000 per quarter.

I'll confirm that in the morning though. I'll agree that the wording is vague, but that's the way it was explained at the launch and in suvsubsequent training sessions.

I just interpreted it that way.
