Reviving an old thread here.

Stripped out mate's stuck down M7000 SLX lever last night and found that the piston/plunger head is mushroomed. And seems that my M785 XTs isn't far from reaching that point also.

Found these kits on Ali Xpress. Works out to about R190 with shipping if anyone want to attempt to rebuild/revive their lever.

Lead time sux a bit, but will provide feedback on these and the rebuild process if and when they arrive one day

wonder if this will work in an XTR m9000 lever!?

current internals doesnt last for s***t

according to the comment listed in the product reviews, there are people that used these successfully rebuilt their XTR's with these

The feeling on your lever is not the piston getting stuck but rather the lever losing bite, i think the plausible explanation is the bore of the cylinder is phucked. This could be caused by bad maintenance and weight savings in the xtr lever

Been running those in my Guides.

Work well. Busy reviving another set of guides now, but the internal circlip pliers i order was damaged and CCS don't seem to list them on their site. Time for the dremel

Lever biting, but then getting closer to the bar under pressure?

More likely a worn or damaged seal than lever bore.

Strip and check if you've got a bit of time off the bike.

Hi, I'm encountering the same issue on my m785 fron lever is more affected then the rear one.

Can someone please tell me the material of the piston inside the master cylinder?  is it from plastic/composite or metal?

I'm asking this because on aliexpress i can see that the same seller is selling aprons(rubber o-rings) separately and he is also selling a metal piston together with the o-rings.

And don't know which version is better to buy.

Apparently , if the original piston is from plastic, it seems a better idea to buy the whole metal piston, but don't know how will this impact the entire system.

Let me know you're thoughts.

It's plastic

I ordered titanium pistons I'm going to fit on my guides.

Thanks this was a gift. Fix worked perfectly, took about an hour to complete all the steps.

Good to see it's still helping others.

I've actually done the same for sram guide brakes as well. Although the steps are bit different.

I need to document it (better) and share

Have a set of SLX that one lever has been weeping fluid from the piston and slightly less bite. Followed your guide for a bit of a clean up, lube and rebuild and it's been happy for the last month. Another thanks from me.

I would be a little concerned that the Titanium pistons you guys are looking at might start to wear the bore of your lever cylinders, rather then the more sacrificial soft plastic part of the original.

Doesn't the seal lift/keep the Piston from making hard contact with the bore.

Like hope have been doing alloy pistons for ever and I've never heard of them wearing through the bore of the master cylinder

correct, in extreme cases is most likely the seals can be worn and then what Alouette3 was referring to could happen. Fortunately the pistons i ordered came with a set of seals and I've also ensure i applied some dot grease in the guides.
