What about the cyclists that might not have regular access to computers/internet? Do they lose their entries? Is CTCT now discriminating by making an online survey a compulsory part of participation - I have not seen an alternative method of completion being proposed? Or is this only compulsory for participants with internet thus once again being discriminatory by excluding certain participants from having a contribution to their own safety and well-being during the event (which is the primary objective of this questionnaire of course)?

Yip, called them twice yesterday and got through. Not much point to it as they could not solve my problem. They did threaten me with consequences if I did not submit the form.

Let's be honest, the consequences of not filling it in are probably the same as not displaying that new front number board at the DC or Burger. Zero.

If entry cost wasn't enough of a barrier to participation at events, then these surveys surely will be.!   (not that I've looked at it yet)

How about some mass action.?

Ok I have a few minutes. Firstly I am ashamed to see UP being involved with this. I went through this and can find nothing that will directly influence the planning for medical resources on the day. I see a typical questionaire that is used to make up numbers so that a "study" can be published. Often these "studies" then becomes benchmarks merely due to the numbers involved. By filling this in we are indirectly becoming part of medical fraud.

It clearly stems from a relationship between the "researchers" and PPA. It is a cheap shot to involve questions about training surfaces, psychiatric diseases, previous accidents and so forth , and telling us it is for our own good. IT IS IRRELEVANT!!!!

This is a scam and an insult. I have paid too much money to risk anything so I will fill it in with the sole aim of getting it done. This leads to corrupt data. How is this good for anyone?

Any selfrespecting researcher will make participation optional IN THE BEGINNING!

Also it must be made clear that "the medical team" is not defined at all and as such you are NOT guaranteed that your data - wich is NOT anonymous- will not leak out. The admin person that wades through all the data may be very interested to hear about your depression and is likely to bring it up at the next braai.

This is a bad show and the strongarm tactics is deplorable.

Couldn't have said it better. Pretending to gather medical data for our safety when in fact they're probably just looking for free data for a pseudo-academic research paper - I would have though CTCT was bigger than that. I called them on it via email and of course have heard nothing back.

If I'm forced to complete it, i will, but it'll be more full of crap than Jabba the Hutt with constipation.

Hi Whiskythief, welcome to The BikeHub. Reading your profile "about me" I think you will find many friends here!

Folks a better long term solution is not to disclose your email.

I have to agree with Edge_design that this survey and the way it is handled is discriminatory in a negative way. I mentioned this to the office when I called and they simple said "then those people will loose their entries!"

further discussion brought further threats from the CTCT office.

Besides not giving a hoot about my seeding (can't be bothered to go out of my way to earn the required loyalty points) I'm really wondering if this event is worth it anylonger.

It no longer fulfills it original intent.

The route over Chappies for next year i not guaranteed and neither is Main Road from Muizenberg to FIsh Hoek since the road works isn't anywhere near completion an Chappies remains a hazard.

Add all these uncertainties to the **** bedside manner of CTCT management......

Doubt I'll give them anymore money.

Further threats? woa. hold on, wtf is going on the tour organizers?!  While the 'threats' are all subjective, there's something to be said for someone feeling like they are being threatened. I think CTCT organizers need to explain themselves.

This thing has become as stupid as that mall up in Gauteng i think it was, that clamped a bicycle that was chained to a lamp-post. At least mall management had the sense to backtrack on the strong-arm tactics and apologize publicly for their douchery. Maybe time for some Facebook/twitter action for the CTC organisers is in order. It would be inflammatory for a charity organisation to be seen to be relying on gestapo tactics to achieve their objectives.

All i want from them is explain why this questionnaire is mandatory and how it is going to be used, and, to explain why this questionnaire is so damn precious they need to offer shitfaced responses when being queried about the questionnaire.

I have been thinking about this. The way to stop this in its tracks is for everyone to fill in utter crap on the form and then TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH! I went back and changed it to be available - firstly we will be able to call any "research" crap and secondly they may see it to be worthless and never repeat it. So please get in there and let your imagination run wild.

it seems like the web page for this notorious questionnaire is no longer available. Strange, considering the cut-off date is tomorrow.

Maybe they reached their target sample size

Has anyone contacted someone at CTCT? Not via email as that has proved to be useless.

I have tried phoning but no answer.

I've phoned, emailed, texted, snail-mailed...anyway - the only reply was yet ANOTHER link to the questionnaire which didn't work...
