I enjoyed my first one - managed a 4h47 and beat all of my buddies which was my main aim.

I felt strong in the last 25km which was really unexpected!  Passed a lot of people up Simola.

Really could have done without the traffic from C batch going up Wapad though.  Absolutely crawling pace and lots of walkers.  It's not even steep or technical - not sure why there was a problem or why it's hyped up so much?

But overall I enjoyed it.  Except the cold in Uniondale...

But your buddies are almost 50 years (tomorrow and November) old and you are 33!

I'm not that old yet...

And as we spoke about yesterday, Guy came second in Dr Evil, and he's older than you!  Age is irrelevant if you put in the training time (which I didn't...).  Can't use age as an excuse for slowness :P

What I am missing is no mention of the fact that due to a disagreement with race organisers and CSA no pro riders were allowed to race one of the biggest MTB races in the country. What is up with this? Same thing happened with DR Evil classic.

First K2C did 5:28. I have mixed feelings but I guess i'm to blame LOL.

Climbing was good, descending was a nightmare due to the fact that Im am still undergoing rehab after a radial head fracture(left elbow). So I took the cautious approach on the descents. For most of the ride I didnt know where I was so I dealt with it as it happened.

3rd time i've been on a MTB ever so i'm quite happy....although my elbow isn't

I think this headline Naas's question on an earlier thread on whether the presence of pro's attract other entrants.

Stuff CSA. They can go suck their hat.

Based on what do you conclude CSA is in the wrong here? I have done numerous races sanctioned by CSA, don't think it is an particular onerous task for organisers to get CSA sanctioning, appears more the decision of the organisers not to apply for sanctioning?

I dislike CSA as much as I dislike ASA. They are government organisations that just want to make money. PPA on the other hand, and also smaller opperations like Dirtopia/AMA rider are actually doing something for cycling.

Got a guy at the botom of the Simola downhill who snapped his chain. I couldn't leave him the so I turned aroud and told him to hold on to my Camelbak and I pulled him. Luckily a friend showed up and the two of us managed to get the guy to the finish making turns pulling him. Got al lekker cheer from the crowed as we entered the grounds. Helping him was almost more rewarding than seeing the top op Simola
