So I've been an alloy wheel man for decades, due to my complete lack of mechanical sympathy when descending. I've recently made the move to Carbon hoops and well. the difference is unbelievable. Bike feels so much more responsive under acceleration and braking, the wider hoops give my 2.35" wide tire grip like I've never had before. Mongoose! Posted March 8, 2023 Share I recently replaced my "American Classic wide lightning Race" aluminium wheelset with a set of Enve M50 carbon wheels. (DT Swiss 360 star ratchet hub at rear / front Lefty hub.) Although the American classic wheels were a few grams lighter that the Enve's there is no comparison between the two sets.
