rock Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 with a 10-50t cassette being released soon, you just know that somewhere locked up is a 10-56t prototype......
DJR Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Next will be a conversion to fit your chainrings at the back!
RocknRolla Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hmm, I only recently ventured to 2 x 5.... May take a while before these guys see my money...
SwissVan Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Luckily I'm old school and have the mental dexterity to work left and right side gear levers, so no need to get rid of my FD Long live the triple
sirmoun10goat Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I am still 1x10 and technology is already going 1x12... you still ahead of people running 2x set ups
Iwan Kemp Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 This one from bikeradar assuming 12 speed will be 10-50 http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.imdserve.com/images/news/2016/02/08/sram_1-12_range_2-1454979621239-1duc4v5gg63ib-960-540.jpg
Wez-O Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Definitely on MTBs, the FD is the dodo of the sport.... Perhaps its a little more difficult to get rid of just yet on road bikes where riders may need to climb a 10km 8% gradient then decent the otherside at 90km/h. You don't want to spin out at 40km/h?
Shebeen Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Definitely on MTBs, the FD is the dodo of the sport.... not at all, they need to work out how to make something with less components cheaper first before it can think of replacing 2x and 3x systems

Monark Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Me - I love my FD. Training bike is 1x and that's fine. Less stuff - cheaper to run etc and if I run out of gears it just makes me stronger while I hoof it up the climb. Racing bike is 2x and that's fine. Enough gears in case I hit something like Rusty Gate climb ala 2014 Epic and a wide enough spread that I can pedal comfortably on 99% of ups AND downs. To me 11-36 10spd and 11-40 11spd already feel like they're starting to show gaps between the gears. Not so much on the dirt where you're distracted by the bumping/jarring but on road you can certainly feel the gaps between the gears. 12spd 10-50 is gonna show bigger gaps that I aint gonna like that. To each their own though - if simplicity/weight loss are your top factors than 1x12 it is for you. Give this man a Bells....
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 What am I looking at here? What do the % mean?essentially the difference in range between highest gear and lowest gear. So in this case the 10-50 cassette offers you a 500% range, as the biggest ratio is 5x larger than the smallest. this way you can accurately compare the ranges of various different gearing options, even on 2x & 3x. ie: 11-36 cassette / 24-36 chainring = 0.667:1 (24/36 ie granny) to 3.2727:1 (top gear) = 491% range (3.2727/0.667 = 4.91)

Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wasn't there enough space for the 3x graphs? they don't sell 3x as a new offering anymore. They're still stocked, don't get me wrong - but in the current year model offerings, 3x just isn't there.
