Bike Hub Classified section (or should I not go there)

Me - I have had far more pleasant interactions than unpleasant.

Hell - in my last sale the guy gave me about  R1200 worth of goodies and he was buying from me!

Sorting the wheat from the chaff is pretty easy on thehub. I might come across as a cranky old git if you're farking me around but I'm pleasant as Dakota sunshine if you come across as a decent bloke.

Just my 2c,

In today's harsh economic climate, entrepeneurs are everywhere trying to make a living and feed their families....

If guys are buying and selling as their primary income, I don't see why they should not be supported... Perfect example is an outstsnading chap "Upshift Cycles" who would rather place an ad "Cash for your Bicycles" than do it the way some others are by blatantly buying and reselling on here "bikehub"...

I say support the guys trying to make a living the honest way and that way we'll find our environment alot more supportive of each other the way it used to and should be...

Another example was a Scott 940 that was up for a good price, then the next day the add is gone and a day or so afterwards the same bike is up for sale for a good couple of K more ... how do I know it was the same bike ... distinctive grips and other finishing items.

yip at it again....sigh.

Thats the problem on bikehub, ads get deleted, that ads long gone now. Wait a day or 2 and relist the item, most seeing the ad are none the wiser and so it goes on.

There was that shady character with his repaired Dogma frame, he'd just delete and relist everytime anyone asked a pertinent question, that went on for weeks.

So how is it that Mr Christmas Tree has such positive ratings?

Nobody said Big Tree and Christmas Tom are no legit, they are obviously great buyers and sellers cause they are making money that way, but they are making money off the cycle hub community.

If they were buying every bike on OLX and Gumtree no worries but they are like the fat kid at party gulping down all the good sweets before any of the other kids have chance. And that's the problem I guess .

Personally I have decided not to sell or buy from them, even though the one Scott that Mr Tree snapped up is now being sold by him for only R250 more than the original selling price .

I saw that and the GT Zaskar recently

Reseller knocks down the price from the original seller..Making them lose more money...

The guy who is actually looking for a bike for himself pays more from the reseller

Everyone looses except for the reseller

The Hub does not need this..

The sport is already so expensive as it is...

What if I work for Oakbay Investments?

Will my association with the Guptas affect my rating on the Hub? :whistling:

Nope you will just get laughed at... :)

Fair enough...not suggesting he isn't legit but he's obviously keeping some people happy. Personally, I also think it goes against the grain.

These fat kids are good at gobbling up the good sweets quite fast...

Do they smell as bad as my camelback after going three rides without a wash ?

You wear a camelbak? bar extenders too? You know the hub deems that not cool. As uncool as traders in the ads.

Hubs a great place, have got all my bike stuff on here for the last 3 years, also been given some great advice.

One of the biggest lessons is learning what bike parts are worth second hand! I send lots of PM ask all my questions and know the advertised price is the Most you should pay as in most cases you will get it for a lot less.
