Alternative to rim rim tape

 I'm struggling to get rim tape in the town where I live and are looking a substitute. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative, I was thinking of trying Silicone Tape............. have read that duct tape and the like leave a sticky residue that is hard to remove from the rim.

Gorilla Tape is a very good substitute.

Gorilla Tape IS rim tape IS proper Duct Tape. The residue is not hard to remove if there is any.

1 Roll is enough for 3 27.5 rims...not sure it'll make 4...which kinda sucks

I have used duct tape i cut the width to size beforehand. Have been using for a while now. Never had issues loss of pressure etc. I couldnt find gorilla tape at the time. Just make sure u fit it nice and snug with no creases or bubbles. Worked for my ghetto conversions. Or maybe i was just lucky lol.

Ive used normal insulation tape in the past which lasted 2 years on my ZTR Arch wheels.

2 Layers was all thats needed.

Duct tape. Works like a bomb and way cheaper than rim tape.

I stuck the tape on the rim and used a flat object to stick the tape nicely into the corners then used a sharp blade to cut the excessive tape in the corners. Sorted

if you cut is exactly in half its 24mm and fits tightly in the rim 

 

my "conversion" is done the same as this except for the gorilla tape which is impossible to find.

I use a pvc tape that i get from Waltons stationary... about R30 for a big roll, and avail in different widths.  Looks like insulation tape, but doesn't stretch nearly as much.  2 layers and has yet to let me down in about 3 years!

Bought from Evo the other day....but yes good quality duct tape is just as good and well under half the price.

Normal duct tape has served me well.

Even if there is a residue left when you remove and change it, it only takes a minute with some meths on a cloth to remove it.
