I note Joburg's finest JRA are busy with their annual lastminute filling and fixing of potholes and cracks on Homestead at the moment ????

Which way round are we going to be Riding the track? I presume we are riding on the track itself ?

Where will we enter and exit. Not like there lots of space in the roads around kyalami.

Many years ago when the track was a part of the race, we used to ride it anti-clockwise. I haven't done much research, but it looks as though that is what the map is showing for this year too. I don't think there is any option but to ride on the track itself.

As for the entry and exit, the map shows us going in at the main entrance. It seems to show us going out at a different point slightly South of that, but who knows. Might just be the way they drew the map.

See the following posts in this here thread (spoken with my best southern hillbilly voice):

The tight fit in/out of the race track

edit: I have no cooking clue on the route inside Kyalami, and can only guestimate. Warning - use at your own risk!

I have a KML file if that will help?

edit:

Converted KML file to GPX.

I don't know the exact route inside Kyalami race track, but the rest is as before (2015 and prior years for the Carr street offramp).

Another edit:

If the GPX file doesn't work, the use the following link to GC:

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/10934486

Three threads for the same topic - crazy

I looks like I guessed right w.r.t. the entry/exit from Kyalami, based on what I could see on Google Earth.

I posted a GPX file somewhere (think it was on this thread) which is 99.9999% correct.

edit: added the link to the post with the GPX file.

Open this map - best I've seen of the race track attachicon.gifkyalami_map2.png

It look like anti clockwise according to that link and following the km banners. Best keep your wits about you careful coming down the shaft and breaking into the bowl . Ppl will try outbreak you into there.

First 947 (first road race for that matter)...

I'm coming from Pretoria and was going to park in Silver. However, I was planning to be there by 6am, and chill in the Charity Village until closer to our start time (BB - 8h17).

If I interpret the map correctly, I won't be able to get from Silver to the Charity village, the start pens are presumably one-way traffic?

So I should go for Purple, and then I could make my way across?

It's a race track, lean your bike and go for it - brakes only slow you down

i always meant to go to Kyalami when it was open in the evenings for cycling. If I remember correctly the advert was for "runners, cyclists and roller-bladers".
