Sorry to post in old thread. Does anyone know if you need to replace the spokes and nipples have to be replaced with original parts from Mavic or can you use other spokes and nipples of same length?

Wheels are cosmic elite. The nipples and spokes have corroded beyond repair and dont want to replace with original as they will just corrode again.

Thanks

In my limited experience, mavic change their wheels quite often, so you may find you won't get stock. This was my experience with x2 mavic wheels just like american classic and stans(rim) i vowed never to buy them again

Yeah, I am looking for a single American classic spoke for my carbon wheels and now need to respoke these cosmics.

I was just wondering if can just use straight pull spokes of same length and bobs your uncle?

For the AM ones there is a specific hook and the blade is rather wide.

I think all Mavic wheels uses proprietary spokes. Anything other than Mavic spokes won't fit into the hub.

I see, thought as much. Very little on the internet about people rebuilding with non mavic spokes

FWIW

I had to replace a few spokes on mavic wheels (MTB) a few years back.

The wheels were discontinued and dragons couldn't help.

I eventually found some spokes (via the hub) at Solomons

Seems my scenario is very similar to so many posts on this thread.

In summary - I need a single Cosmic Pro Carbon wheel. DragonSports (who has stock) refuse to sell me a single rim and I need to purchase a pair of rims @ R21k for just the rims. I've also tried this two different retailers as I thought the 1st one may have been trying to get me to buy an alternative set of wheels.

I contacted Mavic HQ and they noted that their policy is to supply single rims if the clients require a single rim. This now puts me in a position to either change wheel brands completely or find a non-Mavic replacement rim so that I can still use the spokes/hub.

Dragon Sports - making a good product really not all that great to own.
