talking about wetsuits, I am still saving for one and looking around for a good deal.  I have also asked Terry (xterra) to have a look for a good deal on secondhand suits.  If anyone knows of something please give me a shout.  About 1.78m short and 95kg.

cheers

I bought an Orca Sonar a few years back at a great price from https://fluidlines.co.za/ and recently bought a blusmooth for my wife from http://www.blusmooth.com for a real bargain and the suit seems awesome and has most of the bells and whistles. Thanks IceCreamMan for the recommendation...

I doubt if Mr. Peak all year round, Alejandro Valverde was tested this often, that he would still be in the sport or join LA on a lifetime ban.

I am sure it is... It is endorsed by by an ex-international triathlete and I see that Conrad Stoltz is also part of their team. Also, maybe call them to make 100% sure!

My wife is finally getting use to swimming in a wetsuit and now I am struggling to keep up with her. I honestly think it is a great suit....

why would it not be legal. It's used internationally in the ironmans etc and I'm sure there were guys using them at the recent cape town ITU event. I love mine

I didn't see it on the list of approved wetsuits for IM, that is why I asked. I was just checking because I am seriously considering buying one!

Random question, where do you do your open water swims?

I think the limitation is 5mm and the blusmooth suits are 5mm and 3mm around the arms.

Another swimming question. This week I have done about 6km of swimming and have another 2.4 tomorrow. I just hit a new PR of 1km sustained swimming. Problem is my lower back is pretty sore and stiff. I did a lot of lifting and thought I had a strong back. Anyone else have issues with their lower back when starting out swimming?

Work on your core muscles. Not the superficial ones, but the deep ones that are near the spine. After a few core training sessions, your backache should ease.

you'll have to strengthen your core, maybe try pillates

I already do Yoga (which does some core work) - only manage once a week, but it's all I have time for. I have two strength sessions a week, but will add more core work and maybe up the intensity a bit.

have you tried going for a good physio session

I think it's a bit soon for that. The pain and stiffness go away when I am active - so it's not at a point where I can't handle it. Will give it another week and see how it goes.
