what was your time like dirtypot? I am contemplating the going slow ride for this event. Just the wind scares the whatnots out of me

Time was terrible

The wind really wasn't a problem though, not when we got in anyway.  I noticed the trees blowing around quite a bit while I was drinking my beers...

Well now you have to say which team you were riding with :)

No fighting, lads, blame my shitty memory and let's not bicker! :)

Let's rather ask Velouria what happened to Magnus... Seems to have drifted off the pace?

Without giving too much away from the race report I have yet to write, Big Maggie, climbed on a bike for the first time in 2 months last week Sunday. He then got a new bike on Friday evening, making Saturday the first time he rode it.

Let's just say that even though Big Maggie did pop, it was only after sending the rest of us to some very dark places. And heaven help us if he saw a team up ahead while he was on the front!

He popped 3 times, but not before ripping the legs off both his teammates, and those teams wheelsucking us.

I never saw it, but apparently the last pop on the first big hill out of the second check point was spectacular - people were taking evasive action as the big Swede was going backwards at huge a rate of knots!

Yeah, I was wondering the same! Did he pop??

Sounds like he rode flat out!!! I like him!

Sounds like 6 of my team mates :P

That's why I like the Savage guys too! If there is a watt to be given it gets given!

When I was solo with 5km to go into that head wind, I turned around and saw you guys coming. I decided that I was going to stay away as long as possible. I can't tell you how sore it was trying to not get caught by you :D

I saw you look back and knew what was going on. :D There was a wry smile across my face at there was a little head wind. Even some dancing on the pedals!

Must have been a great experience... Not often a Roubaix winner pulls you along on a funride! :)

The difference between his flat out and my flat out is quite considerable. @Carbon29er's comment about me getting dropped at Suurbrak almost come true! It's not often I pray for the hills - just so that we could get rid of Maggie ;)

You going to stay with your team past Suurbraak this year?

It was - and it also helps define where we (I) fit into the bigger cycling picture. The gap between us weekend warriors and the real pros is massive. And yet they are also human. Normal people with families etc.

Magnus and I rode into the 2nd checkpoint together (after he dropped me, and then dropped himself), wheelsucking a team. Every now and then a rider from the team would dangle off the back and Magnus would nudge him back onto his buddy's wheel. I eventually rode up to one of the riders and told him who this hulking monster was doing all the nudging, and you should have seen the ear to ear smile.

I have had the privilege in two other different sports (one of which I was very good at, the other at which I was an abomination) to mess about with extremely accomplished athletes, and it really is an amazing experience. To actually participate with one must be phenomenal.

Well done Spinnekop.

I think Spinnekop and the rest of the guys on our team need special medals for getting us ladies through!
