Just an add on, riding times on the corridors (actually all the trails) is in daylight hours only, sunrise to sunset (except for organised Night rides, as on Thursdays at Bloemendal) not First Light to Last Light (times are posted on TGMTB web page, www.tygerbergmtb.co.za  currently it is 07h50 to 17h45)

I totally agree with those who are "gatvol" of these rogue riders. Everybody has been trying to be politically correct and nice a few times too many and these type of "offenders" feed on that. It is very often found that it is the same guys doing it over and over again... repeat offenders. Simply because someone gave you an access code, that does not mean you are not a rogue rider. If you are not part of the club and you use their trails (that someone has put a lot of work and time in to negotiate access for and to build) that are clearly marked for club riders only, you are a schmuck and should be treated as such. They shite in the water of all those riders who stick to the rules and respect the structures in place to ensure the goodwill of land owners. As long as you pussyfoot around roque riders, the problem will persist.

Ok  KarlvN , I see your point , but those facebook posts should have accompanied your original post .

With the added info I can see that those 2 are in the  wrong .

This ^^^

Maybe if had run into mr (A) his feelings would have been hurt and he would have been p^&ed off but next time he is out there having fun with his e-bike he might think it is not worth the hassle to risk being caught rogue riding?

Or maybe he doesn't renew his membership because he doesn't feel like dealing with Mr A again. Or maybe he tells all his buddies to rather ride somewhere else and stop supporting B-Hills because they're all a bunch if grumpy old ballies. Or maybe he's a gangster and he decides he doesn't like Mr A's attitude and pulls out a knife. All speculation really.

This is also extremely important. Not a case of "Sun's out, Guns out" but actually according to the official sunrise / sunset times which are readily available via a simple Google search

I think the lynch mob should be left for repeat offenders...these look like they don't know they are trespassing

Edit: OK saw added info, why did member not stop them or notify club /club members immediately so that they could be dealt with?

Except if the guys had boards / Iwan had transferred his board there wouldn't be that confrontation.

If they're not adhering to the rules which the club, with the landowners consent and instruction, put into place, then they have no leg to stand on.

Yes, always be civil, but I've been there with a couple of marshalls when they've confronted people with all the civility in the world. The vitriol that is spewed forth at the slightest provocation, as well as the self-righteousness that the majority of transgressors have is simply amazing. I for one wouldn't want to be a marshall, purely because of that.

Iwan, I know, is one of the guys who would actually say "I'm sorry, I was wrong, it won't happen again"

Not many people would have enough integrity to do that.

Ohhh, I SOOOOO want to if I get them....problem is firstlyI want to remain a club member, and secondly I have a broken left wrist...so I probably would have to resort to kicking only... :whistling:

Bite their legs off...

reasonable people often agree on many things.

Mob mentality is something that only happens in groups!

Whilst these 2 chaps clearly are punks, because of their behaviour going off the trials and riding through the vines, which is the real issue and what everyone should be getting their knickers all tied up about, ask yourself this question.

At what point in your riding did you dress like these two chaps are dressed and approach riding the way they clearly are? Yep almost on your first few rides! They are complete noobs!!!! No one who has ridden with anyone who vaguely rides regularly would let their mates ride like this. Chances are they have even less idea about what was involved in securing land access....

Every situation needs to be handled with the end goal in mind. What are you hoping for from interaction with these two riders? That they never come back to these trials, or that they adhere to the rules and become members? When you know which result you are looking for your approach should match the goal!

it's really irritating that in a country like SA with it's rampant lawlessness and a general attitude of "F#$% everyone else, my needs are most important", when people get caught breaking the law, the first response of a lot of people is to look for an excuse.

The first response should be zero tolerance.

First just to put into context, I'm on the committee and also assist with marshaling

AGAIN! Does anyone know these chops? They are intruding a brand new Tygerberg Members ONLY corridor.

No board, No helmets, No class.

PLEASE reply if these idiots are recognized.

on a lighter note, stripping rogue riders of their kit may be a better deterrent than steps 1-10 below

HONEST QUESTION:

Let's say they get ID'ed or caught in the act, what are the available steps to follow from there? Steps 1 - 10 or how many ever there are.

The club has been handling discipline diplomatically where possible. Most people are apologetic and many take out membership following incidents and it is great where everybody walks away a winner. Where it comes to members disregarding the rules (such as taking friends with no bike boards, riding off the trails, ...), it is handled on a discretionary basis by the committee. I agree however with our marshals sentiments that there are instances where the gloves must come off - particularly where people are rude and abusive (chances are they'd behave in the same way when encountering a land owner and we don't want people ruining our sport's reputation like that).

Sorry guys, but I am gonna through a truck tyre in the works here. The code for the locks are hardly a secret to a few non members and this is due to the fact that some members have actually given their buddies the code.

So now whether these guys are rogue or not would most likely depend on whether one of their friends gave them the code.

Maybe they even from one of the surrounding farms

I have sent Tygerberg an email about some rogue riders a few months ago. Not sure what happened there.

Eddy - thanks for taking the time out to send details through. If you pm me with your original mail, I'll follow up and let you know what happened.
