I use a cold shower to activate the nervous system before races...????

Where do you get the special cream? Had a miserable ride this AM, and would love to get something like that if it works? It's not just like Deep Heat or something...?

I use this method. Works like a fricken charm. If I'm awake enough to turn off the water, even better.

If it's super cold apply a lipid barrier (I use Lipidol after shower oil) to the skin before putting gear on, like arm/leg warmers in a bottle

I had no fricken idea. Thanks, W. This thread is my new hero. From Dischem?

My Gran always told me that you never go out into the cold after a hot bath.

And my Gran knew EVERYTHING.

mine too, maybe they know each other ;)

Just rub alcohol on your nads like they said you should for saddle sores - everything will feel cooler than that and you will ride like the wind.

Reminds me of my time in the defence force doing basics in pretoria in winter with no hot water. I was so cold and you had to shower. I have never really struggled with cold after that.

Cold is in the mind....

Heated blanket also helps, plus it's easier to wake up and get out of bed and changed. Saves time over the shower/hot bath.
Bonus if you get changed in bed.

My best is one of those remote control heaters with a timer.
Personally feel that it's also not as much a shock to the body when you get out on the bike in the cold, but enough that you're more supple and able to warm up easier.

I also make sure the radio is on, but that's more to do with not being a morning person.

Radio is on? Clearly you're not married. If I tried that stunt I'd be all warm and cozy in the back of an ambulance BEFORE I even started

Morning guys,

This is a frightening topic, and I think granny knows best. 2nd best would be a nice hot cup of coffee. Works for me!!

Have a happy hump day

Granny said I'd go blind if I didn't stop my nonsense. I told her she would too, if she didn't stop walking into my room to bring me tea and crumpets.
