Where does one acquire a "decent box"? LBS?

You can but I found those to not be as good as the one I got from a car windscreen place. I was needing a bigger box for the tandem and went passed my local PG and found a big box from a lexus windscreen. The cardboard is A LOT thicker than a "normal" box. It was also big enough for the tandem with the wheels off. They did have smaller boxes and they all seemed much better quality than the box at a LBS. I have actually been using the box for a few years now. They never charged me for the box but maybe nowadays they charge?

Paid.

Any advice on the best way to get your bike down to the race from GP?

I plan to use Kulula for the flight down but I cringe when I think about how those baggage handlers will abuse a bike..

I use Cycle House in Pta North to transport my bike. Get my bike at the expo and drop it at the finish line. No problems and they take good care of the bike.

If your bike is insured, no worries, may even get an upgrade!

If you are discovery, book your ticket after 10 Sept, meet your vitality goals and get the flight for free :D

Cool, thanks for the reference. Typically how long in advance do you need to reserve a spot with them?

For those left in the cold not to worry. Come February the classifieds will be flooded with unwanted entries and chances are you might pick up a race number at half price from desperate sellers.

Mine is paid, booked, confirmed and now to decide if I should embark on that overdue epic road trip down south or take the green aerie... :P.

Thats great, I almost forgot about the free flights thing, probably because it has due since January so my mind just put it in the "not gonna happen" box.

They are very fast to deactivate things, like PnP points multiplier, building warehouse discount, but when adding features....

Try this - probably a bit more expensive than flying the bike, but takes away the hassle of squeezing the box in a rental and just drop of the bike after the ride
