Someone needs to change the title to "Recipes, get your recipes... from bakes, to fries, to braais"

This thread has been derailed and not in the cycling sense.... you guys are freaking hilarious...

Btw, going back to Koeksisters, bollas and that other thing, that other thing is called a Twisty not a koe(k)sister...

Keep it coming though, you guys are making me hungry!!!

If you want something moreish, look for Stroopwafels. Dutch invention that is essentially stroop between 2 crispy waffle biscuits. Hence, stroopwafel.

Stick it on top of your cup of coffee to let it warm up and allow the stroop to melt a bit. Dig in. Thank me later....

Guys - way off topic. Can anyone tell us of terrible service received when buying koeksisters or burgers? Name and shame!

That's why the alleged shop fitted the alleged chain catcher - so the whole thing wouldn't get derailed...didn't you read from the beginning....now that the chain catcher was removed look what happened. :whistling:

Oh. Sourdough buns. Either from Knead (depends on the day) but mostly home made. My sourdough starter died, though, so I need to start a new one. Wel, actually, the maid threw it away. . That in itself is a month-long process.

And here I was thinking of going to Sostanza and the Bluebird market to have a look there for some. Will have to remember to pop in there for more than coffee and croissants!

Don't know if it was a once off bake or if they do them as a standard, though. Not the most sought after thing.

Them and brioche buns. Omg

koeksisters I never got into, but this thread has me missing mosbolletjies now. mmmmmm winey bread with butter

The scientific guide to race day nutrition recommends toast and jam for race day breakfast.

Which is basically flour and sugar. Which is basically koeksisters. Sunday morning koeksisters are also a big Cape Malay tradition. Which is also riding day. See how nicely everything works out?

It's this type of creative out the box thinking we need to improve the country. The rest is details. Koeksisters are now my race fuel.
