Got that from your original post, I'll give them a few more weeks despite what the message on their site says.

Sometimes I think people at SARS can't count to 30.

My sad story in short,

Submit tax returns, hear nothing for 35 days then decide to give them a ring (as returns are meant to be finalised 30 days after submission). Next day I get the usual "you are getting audited" notification, 20 business days to submit vehicle logbook together with a host of other documentation related to my return.

Get busy at work; keep postponing the submission of said docs. Finally, after 18 business days decide to get cracking and submit. Before I get to it however, I get a notification on the same from SARS; "I have failed to submit documentation and therefore all travel claims are discarded" WTF??? Not 20 business days yet (the deadline given by SARS), so give call centre a ring. They're are pretty much tits on a bull; I have to submit an objection on the website. I do that and submit my documentation together with complaint. 32 days later, I get notification that tax returns have been refunded sans my travel claim (Thus totally ignoring my objection and also, once again, outside their own self-imposed time limit)

Decide, f- this, don't have the time or energy to fight with SARS, and leave it. Another 2 months pass, and then out of the blue, SARS responds to my objection, requesting  documentation again!!!

:cursing:  :cursing:

If their ineptitude wasn't so ridiculous I would laugh...

That's a typical day for me.

You want to laugh.

SARS audit makes an incorrect assessment on a client and refunds client R1m.

Client sends a letter informing them of mistake and pays SARS R1m back. SARS responds by saying a letter is not an acceptable means of communication and that client must lodge objection. SARS forwards R1m back to client.

Client then objects, and transfers the R1m back to SARS.

SARS disallows objection because client took longer than 30 days to lodge objection.

R1m has gone back to client.

The client wants to give SARS R1m and SARS won't take it.

Client has now given up and has kept the money

I was also hoping for a mistake like that from SARS.

Unfortunately I also had to submit an objection, was done on the 1st of November. 60 day turnaround time for objections  :cursing:

I'd hate to tell you this, but SARS suspends that 60 day turnaround time from 15 Dec to 15 Jan each year. So, it could take upwards of 3 months this time of the year. Also, that is 60 working days.

That means, that if they don't attend to the objection for 15 Dec, there is a good chance you going to wait till next year.

It also depends on what you are objecting to. Non-Technical stuff, below a certain value is reviewed by a single person and therefore they might just do it over the festive season. Technical stuff is referred to a committee. These committees don't sit over the festive season.

That's hilarious, I'm actually crying with laughter. On the bright side; very much against expectations, my objection has succeeded and SARS will pay out my travel claim   (Probably only some time in the next 3 months though )

I have many similar stories. What happens there is scary. The good news is that if your objection is allowed, it should take less than a week to pay out. They'll tell you 21 days, but generally it is around a week.
