Well played DD!

Given the current performance drought that couod not have been an easy negotiation.

DDs Qhubeka link greases a lot of bearings I reckon.

I'm pleased and relieved!

Great news that it is now official.

I am totally uninformed about the whole points system for the world tour, please inform me:

Is there a ranking system and then the bottom team/s get relegated and a team from the lower tier gets promoted onto the world tour each year?

Then following up on that:

Is Team DD at risk of relegation?

Is the current BMC squad not going with Giant bikes next year as supplier and Delloite as a sponsor. The way I read reports is that DD will now get BMC as bike supplier.

Deloitte haven't made any announcement that they're moving to another team. Douglas still in contract talks with them AFAIK

The Giant and Deloitte links are speculation at this stage, but it is confirmed that the current BMC squad will find a new title sponsor.

I.e. this news doesn't mean that BMC Racing riders will go to DD as some here are assuming, it's simply BMC becoming an equipment partner for DD.

Yes, and the current "BMC" team will become CCC. With CCC having announced that they will take over the BMC sponsorship of that team.

Wonder if the BMCs are now going to be green?

After wondering about the criteria for Worldtour Licence and found the rule and it indicates that for 2019 DDD is still safe but they will need to perform the next year to stay in the World tour.

Criteria

2.15.011 The sporting criterion is firstly evaluated with regard to the position of the UCI

a WorldTeam or applicant team on the UCI WorldTour team ranking of the season just completed, taking into account the events which were registered on the 2016 UCI WorldTour calendar only.

For the 2018 and 2019 seasons, all UCI WorldTeams applying for UCI WorldTeam status shall be considered to have satisfied the sporting criterion.

For the 2020 and subsequent seasons, all UCI WorldTeams applying for UCI WorldTeam status, except the lowest ranked team applying for UCI WorldTeam status on the UCI WorldTour team ranking of the season just completed, shall be considered to have satisfied the sporting criterion. In the event there are less than 16 UCI WorldTeams applying for UCI WorldTeam status, all such UCI WorldTeams shall be considered to have satisfied the sporting criterion.
