Dimension Data out of World Tour - possibly

Looking at the teams performance this year, it seems the spirit has left the team. Apart from Ben, nobody has made any headlines. Steve Cummings continues to play scaredy boy/prima donna, riding at the back, doing nothing. No value there for DD. Cav? Maybe his body is just not able to function at the highest level anymore. Louis? Was a wheel follower all his career and now he cannot seem to do that anymore. Their highest placed rider on Tour de Suisse is Kudus at 42'nd. He was even the best placed rider on yesterdays sprint stage. Huh? Will DD continue to support them, I wonder.

The plan is to go from sprint team to a GC team, once cav is up.

That can still happen, but it feels like they are ~5 years too late on the cav train, hopefully not the same with the next move

Ther is a big section in the TDF guide about DDD and their 5 year pans.. something about a African world champ too .. I haven't read the whole article yet...just scanned it last night... honestly I just bought it for the race book inside..oh and the cover[emoji23][emoji23]

Dimension Data all behind Mark Cavendish at Tour de France

Maybe not bad to go almost all in for one rider. Of course, great if he performs, but if not...

Go boys

If not, then I think they will have enough motivation to let him go and build towards something else.

But if it comes off and they can again win 3 or 4 sprint stages and hold yellow for a day or so it would be absolutely worth it.

EBH to also target a win from a breakaway group, maybe on the Cobbled stage around Roubaix

I think they can do well , But Mark will have to deal with Dylan Groenewegen, and few other sprinters, Serge for a Breakaway or two in the mountains while edvald and the Butcher can go for some punchy finishes, Reinhardt is well rested to say the least so they can actually do well or come up with nothing.

I surely hope they get some good luck .

I'm gonna miss yelling GGOOOOOO MAINCHEESE at the TV....

You still can. It will be a bit weird but you can still do it. I get he's not at Le Tour this year but that shouldn't stop you. When he was at the Giro you never saw him anyway so same / same.

Vision 2020, which is as before the goal to get an african rider onto the tour podium in two years time in July

With a picture of maincheese and nic dlamini*

sure nibbles, froome and maybe porte might not be around.

but you're going to have to get past yates^2, bardet, pinot, quintana, landa, Aru, dumoulin and all the others standing in line. and then there's always the next big thing coming along too

I fail to see how DDD are going to be a GC superpower that quickly. Maybe if they had massive training camps in ethiopia they could find a natural in the rough. They could pull a Cannondale fluke like last year, but then they'll need a Uran first.

*he's brilliant, but not exactly GC material at TdF yet
