So its good to go!

What matters not is that you have replaced lumo yellow for frightening orange, its rather that little vibram yellow which assures me that they are not carbon soled kicks.

Look forward to watching....

Seriously tempted to take up one of the available RTR entries again ......... if I can organize work issues, find some money and will be putting gears on the bike this time for sure

Gears ?? Why ? You managed fine last year without them .

It will definitely be a good year racing and watching, will it be a repeat of 2012 ???

My snake list :

Anton Wood & Brother

Anton Maybery

Fjord Jordaan

Ales Harris

Martin Dreyer

Tim James

Mike Potgieter

If I'm riding it will only be for sight seeing......

Only time will tell......

The 2012 race was the ultimate highlight for me on this event- Harris/Dreyer traded blows across the country! Tweet was 3 days back, but ended up with the 4th fastest ever time (at the time).

saw your name on the list!!

Interesting that RTR is now a totally separate event, to all intents and purposes.

Batch 6 RTR starts Wed 31st May

Batch A RASA starts Tuesday 6th June

I'd also keep an eye on Jacques Tattersall. He's fast on the bike, did 49 hours on RTCradock a month ago and then toured RTWillowmore after that so his route knowledge should be sharp.

Strong field! Us dot followers are going to have to be on top of our game

also interesting to see ruder #19 coming back for his third blanket - go Andy

under the radar - George Oertel -  he came into the 2008 race as one of the favourites.

Jacques was on my list, don't know how I missed him, had a look at George, but remembered what happened back in 2008, I think he wants to check out the route for next year.

Alex, Martin, Tim and Jacques are the real contenders, Mike is strong but I don't thinks he has got the night navigation skills yet, although he is strong enough to  stick to one of the other snakes.

If you want to win the race you need to have raced the year before, or recced the route, be really strong and able to navigate under the stars, and if you haven't done it before it can become very time consuming trying to find the route. I haven't raced last year, nor did I do any recce, the same with some of the really strong guys and that why I would excuse myself from a podium position.

That said the winning time will be determined by time in the saddle, route knowledge and the sheer will to win, of which there are ample between the racing snakes.....

Alex Harris

Martin Dreyer

neither of them need introduction or justification. 6 stars they are in a special league

***

Fjord Jordaan

Can do what he did in 2015 start a bit slower and latch onto the race snakes in Rhodes

**

Jacques Tattersall

Has the disadvantage to leave with the top guys and won't have much company/pacing on the bike.

Anton Maybery

Does he do RTR as recce or is he gonna wear himself out fast to Rhodes but Diemersfontein is a long way.

Tim James

Tim is at top rider and man and deserves a lot more then one star. But I see him falling in the trap of following Alex and Martin. And although Tim has enormous mental strength I see him blowing his engine as he has done before trying to follow thes two.

Site does seem to be down from the Namibia side too?

..........and the SA Post Office taking their time delivering international rider's maps to me......grey hair just went white.
