Eldron Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I like the unwritten rules - mostly because they're upheld/policed by the riders themselves. Aru was read the riot act for attack during a yellow mechanical. If it comes out that Froome changed bikes for weight/gearing the peleton will take that into account next tome he has a mechanical...
Pah Bear Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 One thing relevant here, is that I follow and contribute (as I know many others do) in these discussions not because we all agree, but because we don't. And that's what it's all about, even when we at times stamp on each other ... politely.
Gen Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 No fighting patch. .[emoji111] Just a general statement from my side that's all.. IMO I think Astana will only pay for it if it serves one of the other teams interests. Too much at stake, too much to lose these days. .. Sent from my SM-N9005 using TapatalkTo add.. Astana are the dodge team of the peloton. .always have been and always will be.. they have a manager that always believed you do anything to win no matter what, even if that means attacking your own team mate so be it. What they have done over the years is no surprise.. But I do think that in the age of professional cycling where tech setup and durability is almost as important as rider ability.. that this unwritten rule is maybe one that needs to be forgotten as I honestly think it is manipulated too many times... that's just my opinion. He showed a definite disapproval but acceded in the end.

Pure Savage Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Do you know what these moaners could do? Get into yellow in the first week of the tour, then they could have everyone wait for them etc. Yoh pro's can be doff.

I think they just like playing on both sides of the fence...

'Dale Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Sure we do. What do you suggest we do about it? Should we write to the riders union and ask them to change it? Like I typed before. It's cool to discuss it as part of the viewing and fanfare experience. No solution here. Just fans yapping. And it's all good.
Pure Savage Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Yup, when Chris asked for help it was Astana who put their hand up.Well, unless ARU decided to race for 3rd spot on podium he had to work. Could not afford Bardet to open up time.
Vetplant Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Week three might see guys like Aru breaking more of the unwritten rules as the risk of repurcussions from the Peloton become less. Especially if there is allot to gain/ I understand their thinking, although I don't agree with it: The history books will note your position on GC in Paris. It won't scrap your name because you attacked CF on the last day in Paris. If Aru is within 10 seconds of taking yellow on the last day, I wouldn't be surprised if Astana manufactures something to give them a chance at victory...
'Dale Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Gee must the racer with the highest crash count in the last 5 years Yoh
Gen Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Well, unless ARU decided to race for 3rd spot on podium he had to work. Could not afford Bardet to open up time.I don't know about that. They had a good opportunity to make Froome work harder.. every bit of energy he spends they save. And up the road Bardet was also spending a lot of energy, over 3 weeks it all adds up... well safe to say the tour is not following any previous scripts... Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
