With so few top team spots available paying the top dollar the individual riders will compete for the positions. Would you not try and improve your position in the team if you where in Landa's position? Maybe he feels that Sky is not supporting his move or slide into the role as team leader.

The positions are all filled at the top teams and unless he can slip onto a team as dual team leader or something he is going to be stuck with super domestique for a little while still. Froome made it clear that he wants another TDF title after this one and will continue to try win another probably until dethroned.

Lets face it - at this stage Sky has the strongest GC support structure and I think almost every GC contender wants Froome's spot - hence I think Landa is trying to push for a move in there - maybe he can take Thomas' spot for the other grand tours?

Not too clued up on roadies so help me here

How stong is uran vs. froome on TT i.e. will he put time into froome at all ?

In the last 12 TTs Uran and Froome rode together, Uran beat Froome 5 times. Pretty evenly matched. Anything an happen on the day.

"Since 2010 they have raced 14 time trials against each other, with Uran prevailing five times, Froome on top eight times, and one tie, at the 2016 Tour de Romandie prologue"

"While he lost 51 seconds to Froome in the 14km opening TT in Dusseldorf, it is difficult to know if this was due to UCI commissaires deciding five minutes before his start time that his TT handlebar position didn’t conform to the setup regulations, requiring a bike change, or to him being overly cautious on the rain-soaked course, or some combination of those factors."

“When you do a TT like that, especially one as hard as that, one with so many rhythm changes, after 20 days of racing, you can pretty much leave the formbook at home.”

So yes, Uran is the obvious threat come Saturday, we can only wait and see.

Rumour has it that Landa is off to Movistar next year.

Yip. My $0.02. Everyone's tired. Froome may have had more 'shelter' time with the Sky train? As ever, it'll probably come down to who wants it more? Great way to finish off a TdF!

I think Froome's form is better than what has been made clear. A indication was the explosive attack yesterday. I think he is also being careful not to lose it all in a fall - and that I think will be the deciding factor - how carefull will he be?

Going out last will be the only thing preventing that since they could give him the detail around how fast he needs to go and how much to risk - I hope it is dry so we can have a head to head without contributing factors - I believe then Froome will put time into everyone and possibly even win the TT stage.

Rumour has it that Landa is off to Movistar next year.

Not rumour

As per Velonews

Several teams have offered deals to Landa, reportedly Trek-Segafredo, Astana, Movistar, and UAE-Emirates. Many see Landa moving to Movistar, where he would take over as the franchise rider from Alejandro Valverde and the possibly-exiting Quintana. In an interview with El País, Unzué did his best to walk the tightrope on Landa, only saying, “any team would be interested in a rider of his qualities.”

Apparently Quintana has offers from Sky and Astana. Can't see him getting a Tour spot as the leader in sky.

Froome has acknowledged how good Landa is and with reports of him leaving sees him as a very good challenger. Sky seem to pop out GC contenders to be snatched up by other teams, Uran, Porte, Landa, the list grows.

Is it possible that with Sky's perceived attention to detail, that they manage current team members, who are possible future GC contenders for other teams, in a different way? eg keeping some 'secrets' back on Froome, their current long term horse which could be used against him? Too far-fetched? Do the team members know everything there is about one another? Too secret-squirrel??

Also Uran was forced to change to a spare TT bike just before his start due to a UCI Ruling on his TT bike about the setup - they had previously OK`d it.

Surely his team would check to comply with the rules prior to start
