Blistering ride by Froome Dawg too

Looking poised for a 4th maillot jaune

It's a long long way to the Champs Elysees though

Not a shabby ride by Froome, for such a gangling, clumsy looking rider to finish a wet tricky course in 6th place.

Go Froome

Quintana quicker than Contador

Indeed... when I saw him studying the course and conditions from the team car that followed Kwiatkowski I knew he meant business today.

One thing Quintanna really needed was Valverde's leadership out on the road.. you don't get much smarter than him out on the road ... he needed Valverde almost more than he needs legs.. huge blow for him..

Over 1 min down. ..big loss on the top guys but also young rider competition. Yates rode a brilliant TT, so did young Bouchman.. the cheese is unfortunately on the back foot.

That is the thing about a grand tour, you need to be able to do *everything* well. Need to be a great bike handler in all conditions, TT well, climb better and stay out of trouble and in contention on the flat stages.

Yip.. he is a very good climber. No doubt about that..but so are many riders and they aren't winning GT either.. he will have to do a lot more work on his TT if he hopes to one day podium.

Unless he started riding for Direct Energy that looks more like Chavanel?

Still lots of twists and turns to come... stage 1 dust settling, game plans changing and formatting....

Indeed a long way to Paris. .and a very complicated route.
