sepia a bit jealous of the collection, which ciocc do you own ?

Same as yours according to the pic you posted many moons ago but in blue as they are faster than Ciocc's in red.

If you're looking more at a gravel grinder /. CX bike, my primary recommendation is still the mercer, but then you can also go ritchey and on one as well. Just build it up a bit differently.

Either way - loads of options. What about transforming your superfly into a mega gravel grinder? It's already got a pretty steep head angle and is able to take 700c wheels...

I like the Superfly idea!!!

The only time one bike can do it all is when you're 5 and a BMX is all you need for street cred. I would look at a mtb that suits your off road riding and then a cheap ass 2nd hand road bike. In the long run the service costs will save you. No space, cmon, even Seinfeld had two bikes in his apartment!

what would be wrong with a cotic x?

Nothing... I have a roadrat with cx tyres - works better than expected offroad... it's not a PYGA stage max but still fun... SimpleDom brought his pyga today for a spruit ride.

My current times on the bikes are trails (no jumps etc) with the occasional road ride with the club and the odd tour thrown if for good measure.Looking for a large, discs, definitely no carbon, able to take a 2.2 tyre interchangeable with a 700c wheel. Maybe lugs for tripping?

You will struggle to find an off-the-peg cx bike that will take anything close to a 2.2 tyre.

Real cx bikes are built for max 32mm takkies but most will take upto a 35 or 38. New gravel grinders can go 40-42; I think that is around 1.8.

Some may have lugs for touring like the Niner RLT which even have them on the Carbon Niner fork it comes with. Niner SA (Bikemob in CT) are getting in a consignment in the next week or two.

Else, to get exactly what you want, Mercer. But I may be a while to wait.

Yes, thanks Eddy.  2.2 is a bit wide and I am sure 32mm will suffice for my style of riding. Will chat to Bikemob.  Thanks for your input.

Cyclo/gravel bikes make great sense with the ability of running road and bigger off road tyres with a rim that is also high pressure compatible, especially if you not going to do serious off roading

Exactly, my point indeed.  But which bike is now the even bigger problem.

Sepia, if you ask the question, you know the answer.

Order soon to avoid disappointment, David is a busy man.

Geld Oom,geld.

But THIS is the way to go.

Simply cannot afford the outlay.

Sell all the bikes and get a BMX, problem solved and maintenance costs about nil. Initial extra outlay may just be for a longer than usual seat post but other than that all good.
