Best of luck mate.  I am first in line to shake your hand. (Seriously)

You know about the pain cave etc so you may have to pay this area another unannounced visit?

Maybe expressed myself wrong. The sole motivation for training is not just the race. It is one of the motivators. Lets call it a goal. So the main motivation is being healthier and weight loss and the race is a goal along the way.

I really hope you do it mate   Absolutely rooting for you.

Just try and hold onto your common sense and don't let stubbornness result in injury, or (worse!!) dislike of the bike!!

you don't need a dual suspension, I have done plenty 200km+ rides on a hardtail, you just got to spend time in the saddle.

What has been longest ride done to date in preparation?

What light setup have you got for the event?

Have you got your nutrition plan for the race yet, what to eat when, which fluids you are going to drink and a plan for volume min/max her hour etc etc?

Thanks guys. Now back to my initial question. Is there somewhere I can rent a dual suspension bike?

For Cullinan 2 Tonteldoos you won't need a dual suspension bike. It is 99% gravel grinding with really no technical stuff. Just spend enough time in the saddle, build endurance and do hill training. There are lots of long uphill drags.

Izzzit?

PV, are u reading and weeping?

Lots to do and time is few

Remember you will need to ride and train with your bike and set up (lights, gps, food n drink)

Have you managed to ride race distance in one weeks training yet?

Don't forget you also need recovery time before the event

That would be the minimum imo

Winter is coming

PV are you still in training, or have you abandoned ?

Still training and trying to get in the time in the saddle. The difficulty I am having is fitting in the training when working in the week and on weekends.

Train... then work....

Work followed by training does not work out ever..

Got to ask the question - who manages your life? You or your work?

Do yourself a favour and watch this video. It's a bit American but the messages are pretty solid.
