Pfff favourites are no longer the favourites.

Wait for Tommy D to come and TT off the front and ruin the day for the favourites.

I would need 17 pairs of clean undies if that happened!

Who is in form but has been hiding it bit?

Outside bet is Jonny D. He's looked good but had bad luck in a couple of races and knows how to win it but his team is nowhere at all.

Naesen would have been up there but his illness will have knocked off that extra bit of shine you need for Roubaix.

Sagan has been around even though losing 4kgs through early season illness and skills / positioning can trump alot on the cobbles.

Van Aert? MDVP? Going in as their first time in the hell of the north might be a bit of a stretch but remember when Stybar debuted and was looking the goods until the spectator incident in the last few kms.

Stybar is big fav for me. 2 x 2nd in '15 and '17. In '15 he won early with Strade and came in 2nd and this year he's won early again and looked strong all through the campaign so far (Flanders aside).

But the bookies have a different idea!

Love this close up pic by Cor Vos

Maria Bastionelli was imperious

Both the male and female winners attacked up the Oude Kwaremont

Fortune favours the strong (brave)

Guys I will be rooting for:

Alexander Kristof – Who doesn’t like the Viking

Peter Sagan – Love his approach to racing. Maybe Daniel Oss can go up the road with the break at halfway, which will force other teams to chase and Sagan can sit slip till he launches his own attack.

Jack Bauer – Because… 24

Andre Greipel – Go Gorilla

Wout van Aardt – Actually in with a chance given his form, and I like backing a Rookie

Reinardt JVR – Imagine a Saffa taking PR!

But like the GCN curse, you guys can safely assume that none of these will win come Sunday.

Scheldeprijs '19 107th Edition

D3tjecRU8AAcgLV.jpg

TDD start list but Gibbons is out according to Twitter. To be honest it's known as the Sprinters Classic with the last 10 years being shared by Cavendish, Petacchi, Farrar, Kittel and Kristoff I would have thought Nizzolo would be 1st choice after Cav.

Overall the field of fast men is looking a bit bare but Kittel is in as is Dan McLay, the Gorilla, Bonafazzio, Ackerman and defending champ Jakobsen.

I'm going for Mclay as EF are on a roll and Kittel has been anonymous again this season (watch him prove me wrong!)
