Here she is after some upgrades and minor changes but looks waaaaay better in my opinion :)

- Stealth decals on fork and 50hrs service

- Xtr race brakes

- Xtr shifter

- Xtr rear derailleur

- Xtr crank-set

- Fizik m5 saddle

What has the xtr saved you on the scale if I may ask?

How does the bike feel with 140 up front?  How does it effect the ride quality - climbing, switchbacks, and descent?

How easy was it to change travel, and how did you do it?

My experience with the Square was that the 120 was adequate, but I wondered how it would feel with 140, and wasn't aware that the fork could change up to 140mm

The travel on the square already feels endless with 120mm I changed it more out of curiosity than anything else. That said it transforms this bike into a monster going up or down. Might be because it changes the geometry to just a bit more slacker.

Changing the travel is achived by replacing the airspring assembly with 140mm airspring that i got from crc at R450

My 2013 Sola 2. With a few upgrades.

Its been an absolute pleasure to ride over the last 12,000km's or so!

Slight crack in the frame now below the seatpost.

Shane and the guys at Silverback were going to replace free of charge.

I decided to instead pay in and get an upgrade. My Storm frame is on its way.

Thanks for the brilliant service Silverback SA!!

And here is the Storm!

  • 3 weeks later...

Okay.  So still haven't gotten round to taking a "glamour" pic of this beaut, but how's this one in action?  Me on my Silverback Scalera 2.0 with Ultegra Di2.  89.4km/h down the M19 in Durban.  Yummy!

Running it with Giant SL1 full carbon tubeless wheels. If anyone asks "are tubeless worth it", the answer is 100% yes!
