i was driving on the Otto du Plessis Drive yesterday when a taxi flew past on the cycle path and joined up with the traffic at the Paddocks intersection. prior to that there were quiet a few cyclists riding in the direction of Milnerton so it is quiet possible that they encountered this taxi. i want to know if this (taxi on cycle path) is a regular occurence?

Definitely not, what time did this happen?

woa. that's a new one for me along that route. If he 'disembarked' from the pavement at paddocks, it's likely the BRT station cameras caught the whole process.

Yes, that's why I asked at what time it occurred, there's also pole mounted CCTV in that area.

this is why Cape Town will never be the cycle city it wants to be. Total disrespect for the rules of the road and no punishment for those who break them.

You're quite the ray of sunshine.

Someone will be in contact with MyCiti and CT traffic monitoring. Hopefully the vehicle will be identified and possibly prevent this reoccurring.

If you just moan nothing will be done.

That is pretty special! But go ride the 'cycle lane' by bishops each day and see how many cars are sitting there blocking anyone who wants to travel on it. You'd think it was a designated parking zone for the school.

SUV driving School run Moms and Dads, are genuinely the biggest dickheads on earth.

They have ZERO excuse for their driving behaviours.

Go ride in Somerset West during the week in the mornings, I didn't get the memo but there must be one, stop streets signs are apparently "slow down slightly signs" between 7am and 9am, especially close to the schools.

Will be Go-Proing them next week.

Pretty much any fee paying school resembles a scene from Wacky Races around opening and closing time.

One of the main reasons we pay for aftercare at Sweetvalley is so that I don't have to deal with the selfish idiots that think parking you in, blocking driveways or even using the nearest pedestrian crossing as a conveniently marked parking bay is perfectly okay if it means mummy and her little princess don't have to walk more than six foot to the car after a rough day watching the maid do all the work.
