There was an oke with a BL number that rode in the AL bunch. What happens to his time?

My GPS took me back along the route after the race on the way back to JHB, which I liked because its always nice to see slower cyclists coming in and suffering (evil laugh). But a large group was coming through and the bike marshall actually moved right over onto my lane and forced me onto the grass. Which I was ok with at first until I realised, actually the group shouldnt be riding over the white line anyway (one of my pet hates at events and DL group was really good at this race about not doing it). Plus I drive a small car, so it was really bullying behaviour to do that. Interesting to see the cycling event from a motorist's perspective.

 

Those marshals did exactly the same for your group. Think of it a bit further......what do you think will happen if you in your car pass at a certain speed in the opposite direction of the racing bunch travelling at 40+ km/h. The gust of wind followed by a vacuum behind your car will tuck on the riders and it might cause them to lose control EVEN if they do not cross the white line. Also with the potholes some riders might need to swerve right over the line to pass a pothole safely and if you in your however small car insist on being on the road it can become a problem.

 

As for DL not crossing the white line......that is also not entirely true. I rode AL and my father in DL so after the race I cycled back on the route to DL as a cooldown and as soon as I got to his group I turned around and sat at the back and I saw plenty DL riders sitting half way across the white line.

It should get picked up on racetec that he started early and get DQ'd.

It's a precautionary measure from their side - safety first.

I meant: I started here and 3 hours later still on bikehub on a totally irrelevant post, by just going with the flow!

 

Had to laugh at that frikkie though... Who does that?!
