TL DR. But I am amazed at how little some people seem to know about decency and commerce.

If you sell something, the buyer has entered into a relationship WITH YOU. Not your friend. The responsibility if something goes wrong lies only WITH YOU.

If I don't pay Edgars because my boss didn't pay me, does Edgars take it up with my boss?

Erm, no.

If your mate has spent the cash, finding it is a responsibility that lies WITH YOU.

Apply this simple principle in all your dealings and you will have happy and productive commercial engagements.

I see some people are apportioning some of the blame on the buyer for not inspecting the item.

How does one tell if a free hub is 10 or 11 speed by looking at? I wouldn't know the difference.

Reasonably, you can't expect him to know there was a problem until they attempted to fit the cassette.

This is absolutely shocking ^^^^ (above). FFS. This seems to be the common sense here on the hub.

For the person that wrote the above.....I also felt this site is shared by everyone having the same passion and the same outlook on life with 2 wheels and especially not to rip off a fellow hubber.

Clearly you cannot teach common sense!

Like the author said: he thought we were all on the same page here on the hub....clearly not...especially not with people thinking that it's the buyers responsibility to arrange a lie detector to check all aspects.

Mods please lock this hanbag fight, people lets get on with life....ffs

No MODS, please do not lock this thread. There is healthy debate going on with people sharing their own views on this transaction. This adds value and insight for members who are new and haven't had much interaction or real world dealings on what the common consensus is!

WOW!! Seems like i missed the action here today.. SO THE ACCUSED IS NONE BUT I - Apologies for keeping everyone in so much suspense.. Sorry for the fact that i work an honest job people.. So i check my messages this afternoon and find this.. Firstly yes the seller is a friend who's just started riding and wanted a cool looking bike so bought the wheels not knowing that you cant run a Campy Shimano mix.. So he asked me to resell the wheels for him.. Little did i know i would find myself in this heep of cool stuff..

SO WHAT NOW>????

I have a bag that I need you to take to Thailand for me, will you drop it at a hotel which will be told to you on arrival at the airport?

So for me the most important lesson learnt here ( Everyone please take heed of this ) is that when selling something to a buyer from another province, the buyer must send a friend to inspect that the item is 100% as advertised. If the friend is happy then the deal can proceed.. Also now understand why many sellers advertise as local collection only.. . I think that's the safest route..? But when you're selling a fairly good deal you also want to give fellow hubbers across the board the opportunity to get in on the good deal and when you don't, they complain.. So what do you do then when they cant send a friend..?

Or just dont sell things on behalf of friends, get them to do their own dirty work.
