Flat Pedal Advice: Saints or Aints?

Anyone ridden the Spank Spike?

Gorgeous looking pedals in the silver finish, with pins that make your shins bleed just by looking at them.

Riding the Oozy trail which are slightly larger...they grip like **** to the bottom of your slops...feet will not leave and they do kill your shins IF your feet come off. Which is rather unlikely.

Hey guys, my Shimano Saint left pedal (1 1/2 yrs old) has developed an irritating click. It spins nicely on the axle, but clicks especially on up hills. I've serviced it a couple of times, and it rides fine initially, but then the #*%$ click returns. I've been looking at buying a replacement axle (not cheap) but am now wondering if it wouldn't make better sense to go for something else. This will be a pity because I really like the Saints.

The two replacement choices I have:

1- Superstar Nano-X

2- Nukeproof Electron Evo. (Plastic?)

Advice? What do you suggest for grip, reliability, service, etc? Thanks!

I also had this creak on my Saint pedals. Turned out to be the pedal axle on the crank.

Couldn't bring myself to go the plastic Candy/ NP neutron route, nice as they looked.

Ordered a set of these heavy metal babies...

Know the designs old, but don't you love that profile?

Busy deciding on pedals for mu new build. Um service pedals? I've never done that, had no idea you needed to other than a clean :(

Just be wary, even without spikes in (only round headed screws) the Saints can cause you to utter un-saintly words. This was the result of a little bunny hop that went wrong at Red Barn :)

Awesome pedals though, even in mud!

Had a set of Saint MX80's till I managed to bend the axle and crank arm a few weeks ago. Long story... I really loved my Saints, so was stuck in the same predicament. Replace with Saints again or something else. Eventually went with a set of DMR V12 MG's as they are fully serviceable down to the bearings... They got pedigree! Enjoying them more than my Saints... Kickass grip and pin placement feels better. Good luck hunting!

Apparently the axles and bearings etc from most shimano clipless pedals are compatible with the saints, plenty in the classifieds or just put up a wanted ad for whichever side you need, bound to be a good few odd pedals lying around in tool boxes.
