Is this bike course the same as last year? I thought it was changing slightly thanks to the world champs

 

Same route for the full IM as last year. 

70.3WC course will be different.

Some advise from the experienced Ironman campaigners please? This will be my 1st Ironman and would like to know what the watertables are like?

What do they serve at the watertables in terms of food and drink on the bike and run leg? Is it necessary to take your own food? And own endurance drinks?

I heard you get a extra back which you leave somewhere on the course where you can stash some food should you want to?

Some nutrition strategies for the day please?

What and where do you leave food?

Btw and in case you not aware, there is an Ironman tracker app that I used for the first time to track east London athletes....tell yr friends and loved ones to download an track you at IM. Brilliant app and allows multiple athletes to be loaded then updates as the athlete crosses a timing mat.

20 Days !!!

 

Is anyone else getting nervous and counting the days down like i kid in December or is that just a newbie thing?

 

 

... in about 2 weeks time most of us start stressing about whether we trained enough, the weather, wind direction, sea temps and germs  :D

Shhhhhhh... am enjoying the fact that my last long rides are done and can start enjoying my taper!!  :D

 

This week will be have you trained enough as you head to taper

The week after will be pseudo niggles and strains as well a long term weather forcasts

Race week, it will be what it will be on training and in depth weather analysis  :P

No not at all, I think we have good reason to be nervous/excited. It is a long day and finishing is tough.

So how do you taper? Just easy, shorter Z2 stuff?

So how do you taper? Just easy, shorter Z2 stuff? 

During this week is mostly 45mins to 1hr workouts (mix of easy and tempo), the weekend is 3hr ride, 2hr run (that is down from 5-6hr rides)

Next week same during the week, weekend 2:30hr ride, 1hr run

Race week, 30-45mins light workouts and race drills, last workout Thursday, rest Friday, pre-race workout Saturday bike, run and swim (all very short duration)

THEN RACE DAY and have fun  :clap:

 

Monday..... hobble and walk funny ;)

 

As you like to know the numbers as of today CTL 128, ATL 158, TSB -29 (tired).  Predicted for race day CTL 117, ATL 81, TSB +25

 

Edit: lost a week of training mid Feb due to that stomach bug going around, so numbers down on what was hoping for

Nice numbers. Battling to get my CTL over 90, so I know getting it that high takes some long hours.

Sadly due to illness an bad weather I missed my ultra rides and runs. Just one of those things.

 

Will do a couple more rides in the warmth of the cradle this weekend and next weekend and a few short runs. Resigned myself to the fact it’s going to hurt. Makes the beer taste better at Barneys. Is what it is now, no point chasing hours,
