Is it worth my while to spend the 3k extra on a Titan Trail

Hello Good People,

I am a complete newbie looking at buying my first bike.

All the advice I've received thus far has led me to believe that buying a MTB is best to start with.

I have searched for Second hand bikes but realise that the Titan bike range is in the same price category for a new bike.

I am currently trying to decide on whether to but a Titan Ryde or a Titan Trail...

Would it be worth my while to spend the extra R3000 on the Trail or not?

If so, why should I?

Any help would be greatly appreciated  :D

Hi Preasan, yes the Trail is the better option with air shock and hydraulic brakes.

Check out Hassims in Pretoria they offer great Titan prices. They advertise on olx.

Their number is 061 999 7236. (taken off olx). Also use www.bike-addict.co.za as a guide for good prices.

I haven't bought from any of these guys but did notice them while I was looking for a bike.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you buy.

What is the Titan Trail going for new?

I honestly think 2nd hand is a way better route to go. Depending on your budget. I don't know anything about the Titan range. But I bet a 2nd hand GT karakoram or something like that would have better components. Prob not as light but I would be more interested in durability and components at that entry level price range.

You might be able to buy a new titan for the same price as a 2nd hand bike but ten to one the 2nd hand bike will have better components.

The components on the Titans are pretty  basic.

You get some pretty good 2nd hand deals here on the hub.

Respectfully disagree, at the price point Titan is better specced than any other manufacturer. At 20k Titan Pro comes with XT group set XT brake set RS recon shock and Stans ZTR rapid wheels. All other manufacturers at the 20k mark offer Deore shifters and brakes with house brand OME wheels. The frames are slightly heavier than most but if you are not a weight wheenie Titans value is difficult to compete with. Other good value offerings are Silverback and Merida

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Ended up buying a Titan Expert????.

Got a really good price for it at Cycle Lab in fourways. Was basically the same price I was set on spending on the Trail. And the service was excellent.

Super keen to ride ????

Congrats Bud. Wanted to advise on the Expert. It's what I landed up buying. It's an awesome bike.(and according to the Hub red is faster)

Wish you many safe miles of joy.

Red is ALWAYS faster
