if you dont have a smile on your face while doing it, its not worth it. its not enough for me that is a challenge, if you want that try the Durban dash, hasn't been done on a MTB route yet.

Jeez dude, you've made your point and you really .... no really ... don't have to do it  :whistling:

Hi All

Thanks for all the feedback and input. As organizer it is always great to get views and opinions so that we can sort through the valid points and also the ones that that are maybe not so objective :-)

The first and main thing that I want to put major emphases on is that with Cullinan 2 Tonteldoos we are NOT trying to create another Transbaviaans. We have a very strong believe in the concept of our event and that is that it will always be a rider/supporter event where it is just as much about the supporters as it is about the riders. In 2018 we plan to put many more things in place to make the experience also greater for the supporters. This is a tough event (like an endurance event should be) so with our event we strongly believe in the personal, mental and emotional support that riders should receive from loved ones, friends, etc at the supporter zones. Here are a few misconceptions I would like to clear up:

1) We definitely don't allow only one support member. We do however limit support to one vehicle per team/rider and one official, registered support member but you can put as many people as you like in the support vehicle to help each other drive and to have company.

2) The event is tough so if you come under prepared like @VicanZA, you will suffer (like at any other endurance event). It is a given. It is however not extreme. Testimony to that is the Rocky Chicks 3 girl team who started training as weekend warriors who used to rode their bikes randomly but then, through dedication and proper training, finished comfortably.

3) We also specifically have the start time as it is so that the bulk of the field can finish during the festival that only starts at 9am on the Saturday morning and so that they can enjoy the more beautiful part of the route during and after sunriese. The racing snakes will always finish early so over 24 hours it is impossible to get the perfect finish time that literally suites everyone.

4) We know we cannot please everyone, every time, all the time but with this event only being in it's 2nd year we do realize that there is always room for improvement. We are however firmly committed to our vision and race concept and will improve on it until it is perfect :-)

5) C2T is THE most affordable, best value-for-money ultra event you will ever get to do! That has also been one of our main visions from day one.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

Honey, I entered a "little" race a while ago for this Saturday... Oh, didn't tell you, sorry love, I'll look after the kids once the race is done and you can go catch a movie with your girlfriends...

She might flip if she finds out the "little" can mean up to 26 hours ;)

Any idea when these training rides will happen ? Do you have to be entered already to join the rides ? Would like to test the legs before commiting.

As far as I know, the entries are sold out

Quite a few training rides have already taken place and the next one is next weekend (16th). Join the Facebook group for all the info on these rides (search for C2T Training rides). The entries for the 2018 event are sold out but anyone is welcome to join the training rides.

For the training rides you are welcome to do so.

As soon as my Slate is welcome I'm in. Until then it will have to be Panorama. Roadbike for the road, MTB for rough stuff and gravel bike for gravelgrinding. Sounds about right?

I wouldn't do it with my gravel bike despite my protestations before this year's event

I'd like to do this on gravelbike. Hope we don't have a repeat where guys fit straight bars and come ride their gravelbikes anyway.

The UCI regulations/restrictions pertain to the drop bars, so why not?
