Heal up soon.

This is 500m from my house ... NASTY crossing that !!!!!

And with the roadworks people seems to loose their cool and ability to drive properly ... well, in truth, this crossing was bad long before the road works, just worse now.

I have changed my commute to miss that section.

True if both people were in the traffic lane. The cyclist in this case was not in the road way when the car pulled off the road way without looking.

Car would have to explain why it was in the emergency lane as a start...

makes me feel  more at ease..Thank you.

Ive noticed daily that drivers are getting worse, i mean really bad. They dont look, are not aware if their surroundings or even road signs.

In my area, people just go straight through the stop streets and i mean not one here or there but majority of drivers. I have to stop and wait for the car that is a few meters down the roadto actually stop.

Dude, im glad your ok and most wise to transition to the dirt version of cycling.

I worked with a lady in her 30s in 2009/2010. She was so unobservant while driving that she did not even notice if one flashed headlights at her. That scared me a lot, realizing that if she missed a car coming from in front flashing headlights, she definitely would not notice cyclists.

Glad you ok.

I rode into the back of a stationary car in 1993 and spent a week in hospital with facial injuries.

Yes, it gets worse daily, and I see more and more people looking at their cellphones instead of the road.

I am in the habit of stopping at a stop. It amazes me how impatient people get when you come to a complete stop!

and then what happens to the driver of the car...she replaces the rear

windscreen....and life carries on....driving around like a blind idiot!!!!

A call to your lawyer would be a good starting point...did she even offer

to cover the medical bills and the damage on your bike?

Nope - but I will definitely take it further.

Hard Luck AJoub. Speedy recovery Bud.

On my way to church yesterday morning I witnessed first hand how inattentive motorists can be.

Approaching a Traffic circle, I yielded for the car coming from the right, the Lady driving the car clearly did not have her full attention on driving, as she slammed on brakes in the middle of the circle, and almost came to an standstill. I had to brake hard to avoid hitting her.

She then carried on driving, albeit very slowly. She was weaving all over the road, crossing the white line with two wheels quite a few times, and when she realised this, she over corrected so much that she almost hit the curb on the left a few times (and this on Brackenfell Blvd, with it's two meter wide yellow lane). This carried on for about 1.5km. When we got to the next Traffic light, she also almost rear ended the car in front of her.

I pulled up right behind her and got on the horn, trying to get her attention. After almost 5 seconds of having a VW Polo hooter blaring behind her, she looked up from whatever was holding her attention on her lap, glared at me in her rearview mirror, and then looked down at her lap again. No reaction at all.

I there and then decided that I was not going to drive behind her the rest of Brackenfell Blv, and turned off on De Bron.

I just hope that were no cyclists in her way over the narrow bridge over the N1
