Finaly getting round to posting this.

Got a Sentinel about 7 weeks ago, but while building it up picked up a warranty issue with my fork - so had to replace the CSU, which MRP was super cool about allowing me to go with a 41mm offset instead of 51mm - but it did mean waiting for a few weeks (well worth it). In any case, got it all built up last week. So far it's had a ride in Jonkershoek, Eden, Helderberg, as well as a shuttle day at Helderberg - so although I still need some time before I can give a proper ride review, I am getting along well so far with the bike. So far my experience can be summed up with one word - CONFIDENCE! The bike is flipen stable, the wheelbase is huge, and the reduced offset fork with slack HA and steep STA is not a gimick - it really works well together!

The bike climbs surprisingly well - not fast, but very comfortable seated climbing position. The Fox DPS shock is awesome - coming from an RS Super Deluxe on my last bike I can say I am very happy to be back on a Fox rear shock.

Anyway, here is my build:

Frame: Large Sentinel (Alloy)

Fork: MRP Ribbon 160mm

Wheels: Spank Oozy Trail 345 on Hope Pro 4 hubs, wrapped in Maxxis Agrressor 2.5" and Minnion DHF 2.5"

Drivetrain: Sram GX Eagle

Cranks: Lyne Pulse 170mm

Dropper: Lyne Contour 170mm

Saddle: Spaz Henge

Cockpit: Spank Spoon 40mm with cSixx Carbon bar (780mm) and ODI Rogue Grips

Brakes: Formula Cura

Bash Guard: MRP

Weight: 16.3kg (with tube and tools)

To make sure I can go backpackless I have a Spaz Z cage with their multi-tool attached, the Spaz chaintool in the steerer tube, a tube attached to the frame with an AMS OS strap, a One Up compact pump attached to the bottle cage which contains a CO2 canister inside it and has an integrated CO2 tool. Under the seat I have taped a tyre lever, CO2 canister, and a Ryder Slug Plug. There is space for a 700ml bottle in the frame.

At this point I am very happy with the build, nothing I want to change! Never thought I would own such a big bike - but now that I do, I love it!!

16.3kg? Are you joking?

Unfortunately not haha. But - that's with a very heavy hand when adding sealant; pump, spares, tools, etc all weighed too. Before I added all the bits and pieces it came in at 15.2kg, which is still heavy.

Oh, and obviously it's all alloy - the only piece of carbon on the bike is the handlebar. But I didn't build it with weight in mind - it couldn't bother me less. And I can't say I feel the weight when pedaling - the comfortable seated position on this does more for me than previous bikes I've owned that were much lighter - but with a slack STAs.

In my vasdans experience, I'd rather dance with the bigger lady who knows how to move and is light on her feet than with a waif who has no rhythm.

Also got me a Tranny a few months back. 2018 Patrol to replace the 2016 Banshee Spitfire frame (I'm still not wholly convinced the Tranny is a better bike, but I wanted more travel out back...although again, the 140mm on the Spitty felt beyond amazing).

Anyway, build is as follows:

Frame - 2018 Patrol Allow with DPX2 (removed allllll the volume spacers and the rear is nicer)

Fork - Cane Creek Helm Cherry Bomb Special edition set to 170mm

Brakes - Shimano Zee

Crankset - RF Turbine

Wheelset - DaBomb on Hope Pro2 Evo rear and Pyga front

Tyres - Spez Eliminator 275.x2.6 FRID and old Schwalbe Mary 27.5x2.3 Super Gravity Rear (Although today she is getting a Hans Dampf 27.5x2.35 Suger Gravity)

Drivetrain - Shimano XT/SLX 11 Speed with Sunrace 11-46

Lyne 150mm Dropper

RF Turbine Bar

DaBom 33mm Stem (need to be a tough longer on this bike).

Total Mass - 15.5kg

As for riding...wowowee...She goes uphill REALLY well, esp considering the mass. Had many 50km+ rides on it so far around TM area and away.

Downhill also great, the Helm really is a monster.

The rear of the bike is very very playful and poppy, perhaps a little too much for my liking...Oh man it's asking for a coil!

Anyway, lank fun bike and luckily with just a frame upgrade the outlay was at least bearable ... almost :P

Gorgeous bike and then you use electrical tape to tape a tube to the frame. I don't get it.

I can't wait for packs to make a comebaxk.

No electrical tape - it's a strap, but I guess that's a technicality. Helderberg has a waterpoint, so no need for a pack. Used to ride with one everywhere, but now that I am freed from it I dread having to put one! Anywhere else, where I ride for more than an hour I do use a pack though - even so, with all the spares now strapped to the frame it is alot more bearable being lighter.

Edit: Sorry, I see you may not have been refering to my post.
