Stolen Bike !!

Guys my Bike got Stolen at Maties Gym yesterday round about 18:00 - 18:15. The bike was locked to the bike rack in the bike lot. It's a Sworks Venge bright orange, very rare bike so easy to spot out. An eye witness saw a guy in a tracksuit pants and a blue hoodie with a cap riding down church street crossing over Mill street and Bird Street. Please if you see anything suspicious of maybe the bike contact me or the police immediately. 071 451 1739

hate to say it, but what do you guys expect if you leave your bike out like that. that lock isn't going to do much.

With the increase in bike theft around the country, and in Stellies you cannot leave a bike out like that. It will get stolen.

Hope its insured, unlikely you will get it back.

Sorry for your loss... but have to agree with Veebee... would never leave such a bike just locked up outside a gym.

Hope you are insured

Sorry to hear this.  I really hope it is insured / you get it back.

Hopefully next time you won't leave a bike like this outside a gym and especially in Stellies where there has been a spate of bike thieveries recently.

Holding thumbs for you though.

Being the 6th bike stollen in stellenbosch this month, leaving a bike outside, regardless of lock is asking for trouble. Lets hope its insured. That bike is already stripped for parts probably.

did think it was a bit odd to have a picture of the bike all locked up but didn't want to say anything

doesn't matter where you are, you don't leave a bike like that locked up outside.,.......just plain wrong

Does everyone take a photo of their bike when they lock it up? Mine is at work hanging around, not had a pic of it.

That also seemed weird to me.

When I used to ride my bike to the gym in the UK I would take it inside even though there were bike racks outside.  I'd take it through the entry gates and lock it up under a staircase behind the main counter.  Zero chance of it being taken.

I would never, never risk leave it locked up outside and especially never in Stellies.

Sorry to see that it was stolen. That is one hell of a bike to leave locked up outside a gym. Do you carry your takkies for gym in a bag? Do you not struggle to walk from the bike to the gym with your road cycling shoes on?

Will insurance pay if it is not an approved bike lock? You might have some interesting conversations coming up as they may be a bit suspicious about the lock and the photo?

Jeeez.

Sorry for your loss. No way I'd leave a bike like that just chained to a bike rack.

My bikes are in a locked store room behind a locked garage and they are chained together and to the wall. The only time they aren't in there is when I'm actually riding one. I still think I need to add a security gate to my storeroom.

When they are being transported they are chained to my truck.

You have to behave like you are being watched and targeted by thieves. Because you are!!

I'll have to take a pic of my old commuter now... locked to the bike rack at work!
